Summary:

Weber is in search of a Mechanical Designer to support current & new product development projects across our product lineup. As a Mechanical Designer, you will be responsible for analyzing and producing detailed designs and technical drawings for mechanical components and systems used in our grills and accessories.

This individual will be collaborating closely with cross-functional engineering and manufacturing teams to develop innovative and cost-effective CAD design solutions that meet our product requirements and manufacturing specifications. This includes participating in design review meetings, assisting in value engineering initiatives, physically manipulating, assembling, and analyzing prototypes, maintaining robust CAD data, and managing multiple projects to meet the communicated deliverables.

Essential Functions:

Liaise with engineering & manufacturing to be the creative designer to develop robust 3D models for applications such as prototyping, tooling, assembly, simulation engineering analysis, production, and understand product development requirements that must be captured on drawings.Translate conceptual designs to manufacturable products by preparing tolerance detailed CAD drawings featuring CTF/CTQ's (critical to function/quality) to clearly communicate product requirements to manufacturing & quality control in accordance with industry standards.Participate design review meetings to provide design recommendations, communicate potential risks, participate in value engineering discussions, and suggest solutions to engineering, management, leadership, and other core team members. • Support prototype development and testing activities, including tolerance analysis and part measurement to assist engineering in validating part performance against requirements.Attend supplier review meetings and maintain all appropriate CAD documentation changes.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance design processes, efficiency, and product quality.Manage multiple projects simultaneously and prioritize tasks associated to meet the communicated project deliverables.Education:

Associate in engineering, manufacturing, or equivalent technical degree required. B.S. in manufacturing engineering technology, industrial engineering technology, or equivalent desirable.

Work Experience:

3+ years of professional design experience required & manufacturing experience (like tool and die making) is highly desirable.3+ years proven practical design & drafting experience with CAD (SolidWorks preferred).Skills:

Strong understanding of mechanical principles, materials, and manufacturing processes, with the ability to translate design concepts into practical solutions.Independent, driven self-starter who can manage and prioritize work based on departmental goals and objectives.Excellent problem-solving, hands-on skills, and attention to detail, with the ability to analyze complex design challenges and propose innovative solutions..Experience with Product Data Management (PDM), Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), & SAP is preferred.Knowledge in multi-level Bill of Material (BOM) structuring.Proficiency in GD&T per ASME Y14.5 is a plus.Familiarity with design for manufacturing (DFM) principles, tolerance analysis, and Weld Symbols.Previous experience with ASME drafting standards is a plus.Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional teams.Proficiency in Microsoft 365 required (Word, Office, Sharepoint, Teams, etc.).Certified Solidworks Associate (CSWA), Certified Solidworks Professional (CSWP), and/or Certified Solidworks Professional - Drawing Tools (CSWP-DT) is a plus.
