Schedule:PT+, 25 hrs/wk, M-F; some weekends may be required

Reporting Relationship:Corps Commanding Officers

Salary/Grade: $16.00 per hour; Non-Exempt, 74

Position Overview:

The Custodian will perform the facility and grounds cleaning, equipment maintenance, property vendor management, vehicle upkeep, and yearly inspection management for the Philadelphia Temple Corps, ensuring there is always a clean and safe environment for the program participants and staff.

Responsibilities

Description of Position:

Direct, oversee, and lead the janitorial (cleaning) duties, including both the building and the corresponding grounds. During winter months, this also includes snow removal from sidewalks surrounding the building - see list of janitorial duties.

Ensure all equipment is maintained in excellent working order.

Notify Corps Officers of any property/building or vehicle concerns.

Perform property repairs and, when needed, reach out to appropriate vendors for further assistance.

Manage property vendor relationships, including maintaining an extensive reliable list for needed services, contacting them as appropriate, and directing them when they arrive at the Corps.

Maintain a listing of all required yearly inspections, ensure they are completed in a timely manner, and maintain accurate and easily assessable records.

Supervise and work with the Community Service volunteers, as well as maintain a record of their volunteer requirements and hours.

Receive and store deliveries made to the Corps.

Pick up and assist with the distribution of donated food items, communicating with Social Service Office Manager and Corps Officers regarding the donations.

Maintain janitorial supplies inventory, as well as notify Corps Officers of the need to order supplies.

Organize and maintain janitorial office.

Assist with special projects and events.

Maintain vehicles.

Be available on an on-call basis for problems or concerns related to the cleaning, operation, and safety of the building.

Perform related duties, as assigned.

CLEANING TASKS

Perform all janitorial duties, including, but not limited to, the following:

Sweep, mop, dust, strip, wax, buff, and maintain all floors in all areas throughout the building.

Empty all trash receptacles, daily, throughout the building and replace them with new liners.

Clean the inside and outside of the trash receptacle, as needed.

Clean all offices and rooms in Corps building.

Wash walls, doors, and other surfaces.

Clean glass doors daily.

Clean and replenish (toilet paper, soap, and towels) in all restrooms throughout the building.

Keep stairwells swept and mopped.

Clean, dust, Windex, and vacuum the Chapels in preparation for Sunday services, as well as arrange chairs as needed.

Replace all non-working light bulbs throughout the building, including the EXIT LIGHTS.

Provide ground upkeep and maintenance.

Remove snow and maintain sidewalks during inclement weather. Salt as needed.

Remove or repaint graffiti areas inside or outside the building.

Inform the Corps Officer(s) of all major repairs and assist the Corps Officer(s) in maintaining and organizing all storage areas.

Escort all equipment service personnel and meter readers (electric, oil, etc.) throughout and around the building.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

High School diploma or equivalent. Prior successful work experience in janitor/maintenance position is preferred.

Ability to read instructions and safely use and store cleaning chemicals and supplies.

Must be able to work independently.

Must understand and maintain confidentiality.

Valid PA driver's license

As a Mandated Reporter, must provide proof of having completed training on recognizing and reporting child abuse meeting the training standards of PA Act 153 of 2014 within 30 days of employment with recurrent training required every five years thereafter.

Child Protection Clearances PA Act 153 requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
