Job Summary

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:Under the supervision of the Director of Transportation or designee, the driver operates the bus over a designated route to transport the student in the District and does related work as required.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS OR KNOWLEDGE OF:- Possess valid current California Class B License with appropriate endorsements for the bus to be driven.- Safe driving practices- Provision of California Motor Vehicle Code- Applicable sections of California Education Code- Bus checkout proceduresAbility To:- Drive the school bus and other automotive equipment safely and effectively- Maintain order among the students on the school bus- React effectively in an emergency situation- Follow oral and written directions- Interact effectively and positively with students, parents, staff and general publicDesirable Qualifications:- Entry level computer skillsEducation and Experience:- High school diploma or GED- Successful completion of examination for school bus drivers- Bus Driver Certification- Valid medical clearance card- Valid first aid card or equivalent CHP card- Class B license from California Department of Motor VehiclesDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES MAY INCLUDE:- Drives bus daily over a designated route in accordance with the time schedule- Picks up and discharges school children at designated stops- Maintains good order among students on the bus- Cleans and checks buses as directed by the Director of Transportation- Keeps records, completes forms and compiles reports as directed by the Director of Transportation- Drives extra runs as directed- Operates bus within state laws and district guidelines- Other related duties as assignedWORKING HOURS AND PERIOD:Unless otherwise provided in the collective bargaining agreement between Kelseyville Unified School District and California School Employee Association, the holidays, vacation, sick leave, lunch periods and breaks are provided by law.

Requirements / Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent. Valid California Class A or B License with appropriate passenger endorsements. Valid California Special School Bus Driver Certification (DL- 45). Current FMCSA medical certificate. Current first aid certificate. CHP background check (Live Scan). Negative drug test (will be added to random pool for regular drug testing). Possess the ability to work positively and effectively with students, families, school personnel, and other community agencies.
