Responsible for the operation of their assigned bus in a safe and proper manner, obeying all state and local laws as well as safety policies and route schedules of the AISD.QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Age 21 years oldMinimum Education/Certification/Abilities:High school diploma or GED from an accredited institutionPass annual physical examinationPossess a CDL License and School Bus Certification or must be able to obtain CDL and Bus Driver Certification within 90 days of employmentDistrict instructed safety and operational procedure trainingSatisfactory driving recordAbility to speak and understand English and to read, write and comprehend instructionsAbility to hear and respond verbally to acts of disruption and/or safety and behavior concernsSpecial Knowledge/Skills:Have knowledge relating to operation of all district-owned school buses (preferred)MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Check vehicle before reach runClean outside of busDrive bus in a safe and efficient manner - observe all traffic lawsResponsible for students entering and exiting the busResponsible for students eligibilitySign and complete discipline formMust have Commercial Driver License prior to driving a bus with studentsReport any correction on computer route sheetsMake suggestions on route sheets and return sheets to routerMake corrections on route sheets and return to routerBe aware of two mile limits on buses with eligibility problemsEstablish and promote a good relationship with students and parentsAny other duties assigned by Managers and/or DirectorFill in all blanks and provide any information needed to complete Special Trip SheetsKeep daily log of miles driven and charge the miles to correct program on the time cardProvide the Transportation Office with a complete description of assigned route and mileage measurements or any update needed of route description or mileage measurementsAll Regular Ed. Drivers will assign seats on all runs - weekly, the first month of school and monthly thereafter. Be able to communicate in English on the radio and in personAll other duties as assigned by the director or designeeEQUIPMENT USED:

MENTAL DEMANDS/PHYSICAL DEMANDS/ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
Tools/Equipment Used:
Operate school bus; two-way radio; global positioning system (GPS); safety equipment including but not limited to flares, reflective signs, and fire extinguisher
Posture:
Prolonged sitting; frequent standing and twisting; occasional kneeling/squatting, bending, stooping, and pushing/pulling
Motion:
Prolonged driving; moderate walking; frequent climbing stairs, grasping/squeezing, wrist and shoulder flexion/extension, and reaching
Lifting:
Limited light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) on a daily basis
Environment:
Frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, noise, and vehicle fumes; work around moving vehicles; regularly work irregular hours, and occasionally work prolonged hours
Mental Demands:
Maintain emotional control under stress
Note: In emergency situations the driver may need to lift or pull in excess of the above listing.
