JOB SUMMARY : Transports students safely and efficiently to/from various Cherry Creek facilities and occasionally to other facilities. May be assigned to the positions of Regular School Bus Driver, Special Needs School Bus Driver, or Stand-By School Bus Driver. The position of Bus Driver (D.O.T. #: 913.463-010) is classified +as "medium" work by the Dictionary of Occupational Titles.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.Drives bus to transport students over specified routes safely and efficiently.Develops and promotes good community relations among various school and community clientele.Regulates heating, lighting, and ventilating systems for passenger comfort.Reports delays or accidents.Performs pre/post-trip inspections to insure safe operations of vehicle and/or bus by visually or tactically inspecting all components of vehicle interior and exterior according to Colorado Department of Education Standards.Loads and unloads students at various stops and destinations.Performs student discipline activities, if necessary. This occurs before, during, and after assigned routes.Communicates information and procedures to students, office personnel and/or others in the event of an emergency situation.Performs evacuation drills as required by the Colorado Department of Education and transportation department procedures.Participates in training activities, as required.Waits at assigned locations between routes and/or between student pick-ups or at other activities/functions while waiting for students.Perform other related duties as assigned or requested. High School Equivalency (HSE) diplomaMust be at least 21 years of ageMust meet insurability requirements of the Colorado School District Self-Insurance PoolMust clear Colorado Bureau of Investigation, Federal Bureau of Investigation, and Colorado Department of Education screeningsMust have a clear/clean Colorado Department of Motor Vehicle record (3 years)We cannot consider any application for bus drivers until we have an original of your Motor Vehicle Record dated within the past 30 days. We cannot consider any applicant whose license has been suspended/revoked within the past three years or who has had a probationary license for less than three years. We cannot consider any applicant who has been convicted of DUI or DWAI within the past three yearsCriminal background check and fingerprinting required for hireMINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES : The minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position.

Colorado commercial driver's license (CDL) with P and S endorsementsCommercial driver's license training, Colorado Department of Education (CDE) training, safety and defensive driver training, mountain driving training, and first aid/CPR training provided by the DistrictPREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS : Any job-related formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, certifications, licenses, and other criteria that are inessential and in addition to the minimum qualifications, certifications, and licenses.
