Associate underwriter,

you'll accept, retain and price standard to moderate commercial property and casualty insurance risks in accordance with established underwriting guidelines and within delegated authority level. Partners with lead underwriter within assigned territory to achieve profitable growth objectives by properly classifying and pricing risks, and building strong internal and external business relationships.What you can expect:Culture of innovation, teamwork, supportive colleagues and leaders willing to invest in talentInternal mobility opportunitiesVisibility to senior leaders and partnership with cross functional teamsOpportunity to impact changeBenefits competitive compensation, paid time off, comprehensive wellness benefits and programs, employer funded health savings account, profit sharing, 401k, paid parental leave, employee stock purchase plan, tuition assistance and professional continuing educationWe'll count on you to:Evaluate renewal commercial property/casualty risks and endorsements, within authority level, by examining business operations, classifications, contract forms, account information, claims experience, loss control surveys, financial reports, and risk acceptability.Determine price in accordance with established underwriting guidelines and within delegated authority level.Prepare quotes or accepts and prices commercial property/casualty accounts that meet established risk selection criteria and are within the Underwriting Assistants assigned authority level.Consult agent for additional information when necessary. Within authority, determines if account will be renewed or cancelled.Develop and maintain professional, productive working relationships with agency force to encourage profitability, growth and good understanding of our Companys pricing and risk selection philosophy.Assist agents with questions regarding risk information and billing.Performs other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications:What you need to have:2+ years related work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.Working knowledge of underwriting principles and policy formsAbility to evaluate and recommend solutions to work-related problemsAbility to analyze insurance risks to determine the degree of acceptability and pricingCustomer service and teamwork orientedStrong desk management skills, ability to multitask, independently organize work and prioritize competing demands and requests to complete tasks within required time constraintsStrong collaboration skills and teamwork mindedVerbal and written communication skills necessary to interact with all level of internal and external contacts with an ability to articulate clearly and conciselyProficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and company business systemsAbility to travel occasionally in assigned territoryWhat makes you stand out:Associates degree preferredCommercial rating experience desiredCompletion of or working toward AINS, AU or similar designationDemonstrates strong business acumen and critical thinking skillsIntermediate knowledge of underwriting principles and policy formsAdept to fast-paced and changing environments
