Position: Bus Driver and Community Driver
Reports to: Transportation Liaison and Director of Business Services/CSBO
Job goal: The SASED Bus Driver and Community Driver will provide services to students throughout SASED ages 3-18 that have developmental and physical disabilities.
Qualifications:Eligible employees must be age 21 or older and maintain a current Illinois State driver's license.Maintain a standard Illinois Bus Driver's permit and CDL in compliance with the DuPage County Regional Office of Education and the Illinois State Transportation rules and regulations.Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide safe transportation for students and staff to and from school and community sites.Assist in the implementation of community instruction programs.Assist with the creation of community schedules with the Transportation Liaison.Complete daily safety checks for all vans/buses. Report any problems to the Director of Business/CSBOMaintain general maintenance for all vans/buses utilized by SASEDComply with accident procedures as established by SASED Administrator.Assist with in-servicing staff on safety procedures, telephone usage and evacuation drills. Maintain documentation of all in-service and safety drills.Provide input regarding additional community instruction options to the Program Administrator.Demonstrate the ability to follow individualized behavior plans created by the educational team.Demonstrate proper safety measures regarding equipment, supplies and the ability to safely transfer students using a variety of specialized equipment.Work flexibly with students of varying ability levels.Demonstrate professional work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills to promote a collaborative team effort.Coordinates and schedules community trips and field trips for SASED programsEffectively works as a team memberEscort and assistant students as needed on community and field tripsCommunicate in multiple forms of communicationUtilize transportation software to monitor routes and vehicle activity
