Description
Drives tank truck/bobtail to deliver gasoline, fuel oil, lubricating oil, or liquefied petroleum gas to customers by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Contact current and potential customers to inform them of petroleum marketing programs. Analyze current/potential customers to match the program to their needs.Promote products and programs in a professional and business-like manner.Loads truck with the product, observing required and reasonable safety measures.Maintains telephone or radio contact with supervisor to receive delivery instructions. Informs and assists locations with promotions and pricing information.Delivers products to customers' tanks making sure correct products are loaded, tanks are not overfilled and safety is observed.Records amount delivered and issues a ticket to the customer.Collect for accounts that are past due or cash only. Delivers products to customers within the company credit policy and pricing structure.Turns in sales information and money on a routine basis to allow for timely processing.Monitor and record inventory at bulk plant, ordering a product as needed.Performs routine maintenance on the vehicle.Performs other petroleum-related duties.Measures, cuts, threads, and connects the pipe to feeder lines and installed tank. Trenches line to the proper depth where appropriate. Makes necessary repairs or installations and tests equipment to ensure performance.Inspects truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, gas, oil, and water.A valid Class B CDL driver's license with applicable endorsements, DOT physical and commercial insurability must be maintained at all times. The driver must keep valid endorsements required by the industry in place at all times.Other duties may be assigned.Requirements

Education/Experience:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
Math Ability:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide into all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of AS 400 accounting and inventory software.
Certificates and Licenses:
A valid CDL Class B driver's license with applicable endorsements, and DOT physical and commercial insurability must be maintained at all times. The driver must keep valid endorsements required by the industry in place at all times. CETP training as required by industry and Heartland Co-op standards.
