We connect the dots with cutting-edge technology, delivering value to both sides of this exciting, evolving marketplace.Senior Corporate Counsel / Assistant General Counsel @ SpotHero:SpotHero is seeking a Senior Corporate Counsel or Assistant General Counsel (depending on experience) to join our in-house Legal & Compliance team. In this role, you will serve as a trusted partner to the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary on all of the Company’s legal and compliance matters, and support the continued development and operationalization of the Company’s overall ethics and compliance program designed to identify and mitigate legal and regulatory risk, and promote a culture of compliance and ethics throughout SpotHero’s business and operations. You will work across departments in this role, interfacing with the Company’s People, Finance, Marketing, Revenue (Sales), and Product and Engineering teams to mitigate risks relating to internal and external decisions and to support continued responsible business growth. You will also collaborate with the internal Legal & Compliance team, while also working with and managing certain outside counsel relationships.What you will do:Review, negotiate, and draft business agreements, with an emphasis on technology, employment and marketing/sales matters.Partner closely with business on streamlining contracting and related processes.Advise on B2B and B2C commercial matters, including strategic partnerships and business initiatives.Utilize knowledge of one or more legal specialties with sound business acumen and knowledge of the business goals and objectives as they relate to the matter at hand.Research legal principles and precedents, consult with outside counsel, draft and execute legal documents, gather relevant case-related information using multiple sources and methods and manage litigation for issues presented.Work closely with the People Team to advise on employment/labor law matters, including but not limited to: talent acquisition, immigration, employee relations and ERISA matters.Provide legal advice, strategic support and education/training to internal business teams regarding matters of varying legal complexities.Build out and lead compliance-related risk assessments to identify key risks, and periodically evaluate compliance controls to ensure that they are operating to prevent and mitigate those risks; help to ensure effective, regular monitoring and testing of relevant compliance controls.Provide strategic guidance and regular feedback to the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, SpotHero’s Executive Team, and SpotHero’s Board of Directors, as applicable, regarding the design and operation of SpotHero’s compliance program, key risks and issues, emerging trends, and the adequacy and effectiveness of compliance program operations and resourcing, including (without limitation) as related to privacy regulations.Actively promote the importance of compliance throughout the organization.Implement and oversee training programs to ensure awareness of and compliance with applicable laws and regulations and Company policies and procedures.Manage compliance-related audits and inspections by external parties, and ensure, with the General Counsel & Corporate Secretary, that findings are remediated appropriately as needed; lead or support SpotHero’s response to compliance-related inquiries, investigations, or proceedings initiated by any governmental or regulatory authority, as applicable.Evaluate, update and draft Company policies and procedures.Develop and maintain strong partnerships with internal business clients across SpotHero, including Legal, People, Revenue/Supply, Marketing, Product and Engineering, and others to develop planning and implementation systems that support compliance objectives and corporate social responsibility initiatives.What you bring:7+ yrs experience in a law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department, drafting and negotiating a broad array of commercial agreements, with an emphasis on technology and marketing transactions.JD degree and licensed to practice law in Illinois.Experience working with HR, sales, finance & product teams highly preferred.Knowledge of employee-sponsored work visas and various immigration statuses preferred.Working knowledge of data privacy laws highly preferred.Excellent business judgment, strong and professional interpersonal skills, ability to communicate and interact effectively.Able to balance legal considerations with business realities.Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines under pressure.Motivated and conscientious, with the ability and maturity to serve in a key and highly visible employee-facing role.Who you are:Action-Oriented - Maintains a sense of urgency to complete a task and seeks information rather than waiting for it.Active Listener - Attentively listens to others, understanding what is said and repeating what was heard.Analytical - Examines information methodically and in detail to solve problems or complete tasks.Collaborative - Works productively with multiple individuals and levels of the organization to complete a task or achieve a goal.Confidentiality - Ensures privacy is maintained at all times.Creative - Has the ability to develop something unique that would not naturally evolve on its own, thinks outside the box.Detail-Oriented - Pays attention to details and learns to understand causes and not just effects.Execution - Sees projects through to completion and meets deadlines.Financial Acumen - Has a solid understanding of what drives the company’s profits and expenses and how key financial metrics are used.Initiative - Assesses and initiates matters and projects independently.Intellectual Drive - Is eager to learn something new and share with their team or colleagues.Leadership - Leads by example;
