Receive and follow schedule/instructions from your supervisor and as outlined in our established policies and procedures. Adheres to established policies and procedures of the facility to which the respiratory care practitioner is assigned. Performs focused interview to identify specific patients' needs. Assess signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient's condition. Collects, analyzes, and interprets data and information from health care members and documents actual and/or potential diagnoses. Plans for outcomes of care for those patients assigned. Performs interventions according to identified priorities, plan of care, and the hospital policies and patient care outcome standard. Adheres to emergency, safety and infection control procedures of the facility to which the respiratory care practitioner is assigned. Promotes and participates in activities to facilitate good interpersonal communications. Reports changes in the patient's respiratory status to the Director/Supervisor of Respiratory Care Services, the nurse primarily responsible for the patient, and the physician, as needed, and prior to leaving the facility Develop and maintain a good working rapport with inter department personnel, as well as other departments within the facility. Agree not to disclose resident's protected health information and promptly report suspected or known violations of such disclosure to the Administrator. Assume the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability of performing the assigned duties of this position. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information. Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information. Supervisory Requirements This position has no supervisor responsibilities Qualification Education and/or Experience Must possess, as a minimum, an Associate Degree from an accredited school. Must be a Graduate of a respiratory care program. Bachelor of Science degree in the health care field preferred. Minimum of one (1) year respiratory experience in an acute and/or subacute unit preferred. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and employees. Mathematical Skills Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations To perform this job successfully, an individual must possess a Current Respiratory Care Practitioner verification license for the state in which he/she practices (if applicable). Must hold a current CPR/BLS and ACLS certifications. Must have knowledge of office machines and equipment. Frequent use of all office related equipment to include; copier/scanner/fax, telephone, and calculator. May be necessary to assist in the evacuation of residents during emergency situations.
