long term careThe Infection Control Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating infection control practices within the skilled nursing facility. The RN will ensure the health and safety of residents, staff, and visitors by minimizing the risk of infectious disease transmission through rigorous infection prevention and control measures. This role involves educating and training staff, monitoring infection data, and staying updated with relevant regulations and best practices.Key Responsibilities:Infection Control Program Management:Develop, implement, and maintain the facility's infection control program.Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local infection control regulations.Conduct regular infection control audits and risk assessments.Surveillance and Reporting:Monitor and track infection rates within the facility.Investigate and report infection outbreaks to appropriate authorities.Maintain accurate and detailed records of infection occurrences and trends.Staff Education and Training:Provide infection control training to new and existing staff.Develop educational materials and conduct regular in-service training sessions.Stay updated on the latest infection control practices and disseminate information to staff.Policy Development and Implementation:Create and update infection control policies and procedures.Ensure proper implementation and adherence to infection control protocols.Review and revise policies based on current guidelines and best practices.Resident Care:Collaborate with healthcare team members to provide optimal care for residents with infections.Implement isolation protocols when necessary.Educate residents and their families on infection prevention measures.Coordination and Communication:Serve as the primary contact for infection control matters within the facility.Liaise with public health authorities, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and quality improvement initiatives.Qualifications:Education:Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (ASN or BSN) from an accredited nursing program.Certification in Infection Control (CIC) preferred or willingness to obtain within a specified timeframe.Experience:Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience, preferably in a skilled nursing or long-term care facility.Previous experience in infection control or public health is highly desirable.Licensure/Certification:Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Washington DC.Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
