Executive Director for Physician ServicesI. Position Summary:The physician will join the Valor Health provider multi-specialty medical group and be a part of a team of established providers. They will provide medical services within their scope of licensing, training, and credentialing for an Internal Medicine physician: Assess and treat various conditions, ailments, injuries within their patient panel; Examine patients, obtain medical histories, order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests; Counsel patients on diet, hygiene, and preventative health care; Manage chronic medical conditions; Coordinate treatment with other specialists for serious conditions or intensive care outside of specialty; Act as a healthcare advocate for patients; Admit appropriate patients that need ongoing care.Well qualified candidates will take a team-based approach to care and function in a high quality and compassionate manner healing the body, mind and spirit. They are committed to the organizational values of accountability, leadership, integrity, vision, and excellence. Successful candidates will be passionate and knowledgeable about adult health issues and utilize an internal medicine background to develop outpatient-based practices in support of Valor Health, a critical access hospital, rural health clinic, and patient centered medical home.II. Principal Functions and Responsibilities:A. Service as Clinic Practitioner:See adult patients during normal office hours in a certified patient centered medical home & rural health clinic.Diagnosis and treat patients and prescribe medications.Administration of preventative care and immunizations.Non-surgical treatment on patients to address chronic and acute conditions.Treat acute illnesses.Provide comprehensive care for patients throughout their adult lives.Simplify medical information for patients and clarify treatment choices.Performs assessment and examination.Supervise patient care personnel.Act in a way that promotes and enhances the health of the patient.Address mental health and substance abuse.Disease prevention and treatment of common problems of the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system, internal and reproductive organs.Night and weekend call to be shared equitably among the community Family Medicine clinicians.Completes charting and required documentation in a timely manner.Make referrals for general or specialty medical care on behalf of patients.In collaboration with care team, complete forms and records requiring physician certification on behalf of patients.Participate in the development and review of internal medicine related policies.Round on inpatients in Valor Health hospital.Collaborate with nearby care facilities as appropriate directing ongoing medical care of patients.Fulfill duties and responsibilities as a staff member of Valor Health.Serve in medical staff leadership opportunities.RequirementsIII. Position Qualifications:A. Training, Certification, Registration, Licensing and Education:Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) degree;Successful completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program;Board certified, or obtain such certification within 3 years of employment;Obtain Idaho medical licensure to practice medicine in all its phases;Valid controlled substance registration with Idaho Boards of Pharmacy & DEA.Active and ACLS.B. Other Attributes and Requirements:Practice of medicine within the scope of license, training, credentials and standard of care.Maintains continuing medical education as a life-long learner.Practice medicine in accordance with Valor policies and procedures and medical staffing guidelines.Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patients appropriate to their age, especially elder care.Asks significant questions, listens, is observant and manifests a strong curiosity.Uses a systemic approach and integrative medicine.C. Physical Requirement: Extensive walking, standing, lifting, reaching, hand eye coordination, speaking, clear vision, motor skills and dexterity.D. Working Conditions: Office environment; Subject to contact with patients and their families under sometimes stressful, difficult, and unpredictable circumstances.
