Yahoo Sports connects fans to the sports and fantasy games they love most, providing personalized quality content and superior fan experiences every day.We are seeking a Design Manager to join us as we reimagine the visual identity of Yahoo Sports. We are seeking a creative thinker with diverse experience in editorial, social and brand design who will also manage a small team of contract designers. This person shall be a designer but more importantly they must be a gifted storyteller. How do you take a beautifully written story and create engaging visuals that pull audiences in and keep them engaged? How do you take sports data and transform it into an immersive visual social media experience? How do you excite fans by designing powerful multiplatform franchises? Manage a team of designersManage multiple design projects for yourself and your reports to meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of qualityHelp lead redesigns for new multi platform franchises that span across social campaigns, podcasts, video and editorialWork alongside writers and editors to create immersive designs in our articles and help innovate the future of enhanced storytellingPartner with the social media team to create custom graphics and short form videosPlan for tentpole sporting events by preparing striking key art and templates for content leading into eventsWork with our newsletter editors to create compelling artwork to accompany our main stories for our daily newslettersPartner with editors to create artwork for sports features to live on social, onsite and in-appComing up with new exciting visual directions for how we evolve the brand design language across platformsHelp lead design reviews for your reports while maintaining a positive environment for constructive feedbackWork with associate designers on their growth and development through 1:1 coaching and guidanceRequirements

Experience working in similar fields to digital publishing and/or sports media3+ years of experience managing a team7-10 years of professional experience in sports designExpertise in Adobe Creative SuiteA strong portfolio that demonstrates a mastery of visual designProven track record of delivering results that materially grew audiences on platformIn-depth knowledge of social media platforms and understanding of their algorithmsExcellent communication and presentation skills to articulate design concepts and solutions with designers, leaders and stakeholdersAbility to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyBeing a great human being who loves to support others (and enjoys being part of a supportive design team)Yahoo is proud to be an equal opportunity workplace. The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions, in addition to equity incentives.
