JOB OVERVIEW:The Brand Design Manager is the primary contact for Concept President and Executive Team for all design strategy and implementation.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Lead other team members (Food Service Designer and Design Project Managers) in development of design concepts, material/finish selections and construction documents for prototype, in-line, and conversion projects.Lead outside Architects, Engineers, and various Consultants in development of contract documents for new restaurants and oversee maintenance of prototype documents.Manage design of 5-7 projects per year. Projects assigned will be the more challenging locations.Coordinate planning/permitting functions with Site Development Manager and Project Managers.Interface with other teams (Operations, Real Estate, Licensing, Purchasing, etc.) to adapt prototypical designs to specific sites.Maintain design standards for concept related specifications and finishes.Manage research and development process for design and facility related issues (materials, systems, etc.).Evaluate value engineering possibilities for all current prototypes.Evaluate in-line and conversion opportunities as presented by the Real Estate Department and manage production of conceptual floor plans when required.Assist Design Leader in establishing short-term and long-term strategic planning ideas to markedly improve the design of our buildings, reduce errors and omissions in the plans and improve service to our clients.REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS:7-10 years' experience managing the work of design professionals on multiple projectsExperience working with multi-unit restaurant chains desirableKnowledge of architectural office practicesKnowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) programs preferredREQUIRED EDUCATION:B.S. degree in Architecture, Interior/Environmental Design, or acceptable experienceOTHER KEY QUALIFICATIONS:Ability to direct and motivate team members in meeting established departmental and personal goals.Ability to direct and motivate outside design professionals of all disciplines.Ability and willingness to participate in a system of management by objectives.Demonstrated desire and concern to stay abreast of evolving design and construction means and methods through continuing education programs and other informational sources.Ability to communicate and function effectively within a complex corporate environment.Ability to operate effectively given broadly defined objectives.Ability to adapt to changing business environments, solve problems and take advantage of opportunities to minimize project costs, maintain construction schedules and improve quality of completed facilities.Forward thinking skills to assist Design Leader in establishment of departmental goals.Ability to take ownership of design process by showing ability to make tough decisions and exhibiting sound judgment.Willing to travel up to 20-25% of the time.PREFERRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:Professional registration a plus
