Job Purpose:
Bus drivers support the students of Saline Area Schools by transporting them to and from school via scheduled routes and/or to/from special events, trips, etc. Drivers are responsible for ensuring the bus is in safe operating condition and ensuring the safety of students during transport, loading and unloading from the bus.

Director of Operations.

Saline Area Schools is seeking both permanent, full-time positions as well as substitutesSigning bonus paid 50% at completion of probationary period (20 work days) with balance spread over the 5 pay periods immediately thereafterTraining rate: $17.50 per hour.Regular Route Rate of pay: $23.50 per hour - guarantee 30 hours per weekMichigan Public School Employment Retirement System pension.Training provided, (with flexible schedule) for candidates who do not possess appropriate endorsements.Come join our TEAM at Saline Area SchoolsQualifications and Requirements:
Exemplary, regular and predictable attendance is essential for this position.Employee must be physically present and alert at all times to successfully perform this job.Must be able to physically perform the tasks of the job, (including but not limited to pre and post trip vehicle inspections, basic vehicle cleaning and assisting students when necessary).Preference will be granted to those applicants who possess Class B CDL licensePaid training at $17.50 per hour will be provided for acquisition of the Class B CDLExcellent driving record with five (5) years experience.Able to meet all other requirements as set forth by the Michigan Department of Education and the MIchigan Department of Transportation for school bus drivers.Performance Responsibilities:
Follow precise schedules and routes.Adjust driving according to traffic and weather conditions.Follow rules of the road, ensuring safety of children.Maintain orderliness among children riding the bus.Monitor and promptly report any mechanical issues.Communicate effectively and in a positive manner with students, parents and staff.Check email daily for important news and announcements.Approximate regularly-scheduled driving hours: 6:30 a.m. - 8:45 a.m. and 2:30 pm. - 4:45 p.m.; other bus trips are voluntary.
Terms of Employment:
Route drivers are guaranteed 30 hours of work per week. Routes are determined during a bid meeting. Route drivers work twice per day, five days per week plus night and weekend trips.
Evaluation:
As defined by Board policy, administrative regulation, and the Educational Support Personnel Association collective bargaining agreement.
