Purpose of Position
Manages the development (planning, programming, and completion) of technical projects including leading systems analysts in that development, offering and leading strategies for new program initiatives, participates in and supervises the planning and programming of new projects, maintains systems already in production, provides a customer service role for clients and customers using production systems, attends department meetings related to project development and maintenance of production systems.
Essential Functions
Computer Support and Troubleshoot of New or Existing EquipmentCoordinate computer and network drives access for first-time usersResponsible for configuration/installation of hardware and softwareProvide solutions to end-user computer and networking problems of moderate to complex nature to ensure end-user productivityPerform restorative and maintenance actions to resolve technology problems, using basic troubleshooting and technical skillsResearch, evaluate, and provide guidance on technology requirements to ensure it meets the established standards for the institutionPlan, install, configure, and optimize the IT infrastructure effectively to meet the center's high-performance requirementsCoordinate local and remote network equipment testingSelect staff and providing work assignmentsDirect the work of information technology personnel, setting priorities, and coordinating department activitiesEvaluate and verify employee performances through performance evaluation techniquesAudio Visual/Video Conference ManagementEnsure all academic classrooms have the required equipment and confirm that the equipment is operational prior to a scheduled presentationAssist with technology issues that arise during a presentationPerform basic maintenance on equipment within academic teaching spacesGeneral AdministrativeAssist with the planning of classroom upgrades to ensure new technology requests are aligned with technical, business, and educational requirementsParticipate in planning of construction/renovation of teaching spaces that involve technology requirementsMonitor inventory and assist with equipment purchasingAssist in the preparation of contracts and agreements that include technical specifications and resourcesCollaborate with facilities management on new construction and renovationsPerform other duties as assignedSimulator SupportProvide faculty and student instruction on the use of simulators, equipment, and other technologyConduct tours and assists with duties within the daily operation of the simulatorIntegrate, maintain, and operate the simulation computer and audio/video technology, including the use of digital video cameras, projectors, audio/video mixers, editing software, and graphic design softwareTroubleshoot malfunctions and provides technical support for all simulation operations, including preparation, maintenance, and repair of patient simulators (software and hardware) and related multimedia peripheralsResearch Computer SupportProvide first-tier computer support to research data, escalating more complex problems to senior technical staffPerform a routine backup of systems and data files; perform data restores as requestedProvide support to the systems utilized for research dataEnsure that shared network drives are fully functional and troubleshoots when neededCoordinate with collaboration departments to fulfill needs for projects to be established

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to a minimum of 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.A background check will be conducted on candidates under final consideration.
