Responsibilities:
Performs clinical assessment and diagnostic sonography examinations. Uses cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures as appropriate to anatomical, pathological, diagnostic information and images. Uses independent judgement during the sonographic exam to accurately differentiate between normal and pathologic findings. Analyses; sonograms, synthesize sonographic information, medical history and communicates finding to the appropriate physician. Assumes responsibility for the safety, mental and physical comfort of patients while they are in the sonographer's care.
Ability to assist in transferring from wheelchair or stretcher to x-ray table. Frequent bending, lifting and carrying. Transfers up to 75 pounds occasionally. Ability to operate ultrasound machine to patient's units. Reaching and twisting constantly. Seldom pushing/pulling ultrasound equipment up to 100 pounds.
Requirements:
Graduate of a formal Diagnostic Medical Sonography program accredited by Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Experience required in a hospital based setting. Must be continuing education required to maintain certification. Must have current American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification (ARMDS).
