Overview:
We're looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented
Proofreader
to help the editorial team make sure our research goes out error-free. This position will report to the Executive Editor.Responsibilities:Scrutinize investment newsletters and e-letters for errors in spelling, grammar, word choice, style, and formatting, reviewing edited copy at multiple stages of the production process to ensure that it's ready for publication.Fact-check editorial content, including articles and data.Assist our layout team with the production process to spot errors or inconsistencies in the formatting of e-mails, web pages, and PDFs.Format Excel spreadsheets for publication.Perform basic-level web layout tasks using HTML and content management systems like WordPress.Qualifications:
Strong grammar skills, a close eye for detail, and a strong work ethic.Ability to juggle and prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team of proofreaders.Ability to adapt to company-specific tasks and workflow and become an expert on company-specific style preferences.Basic math skills (including calculating percentage changes).Preferred:A four-year degree in English or journalism.Professional proofreading experience.Familiarity with AP style.A basic understanding of HTML.Investment experience.At Stansberry Research, we thrive on new ideas and the entrepreneurial spirit.
