Mountain View Hospital is looking for a Certified Nurse Assistant to join our team!
JOB SUMMARY:
Provides direct patient care consistent with the unit's standards of care. Meets the communication needs of the patient/family, departmental staff and medical staff. Demonstrates basic computer knowledge. Prepares and compiles patient records. Initiates directions from physician and nursing staff. Participates in performance improvement activities and quality assurance activities. Maintains regulatory agency requirements, nursing and hospital policies, procedures and standards. Demonstrates performance consistent with the mission, philosophy, and goals of the unit and organization; remains flexible to changing systems; is expected to demonstrate quality and effectiveness in work habit; and treats staff, physicians, patients, and families with considerations and respect.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Stocks patient rooms and carts/drawers.Order pharmacy supplies.Commutates appropriately and clearly to charge nurse, co-workers, and physicians.Consults other departments, as appropriate, to provide for an interdisciplinary approach to the patient's needs.Assists RN's and LPN's with patient care activities such as bathing, feeding, walking, changing positions, oral hygiene, newborn screenings, hearing screenings or other tasks requested.Assist RNs and LPN's with housekeeping duties.Assists Nurse Supervisor and Manager as requested.Documents patient data in appropriate computer/paper system.Vital signs on a stable patient.Emptying drains and foley bags and reporting results to assigned nurse. Keeps accurate intake and output.Retrieves all lab results and prenatal records from computer and brings the results to the attention of the charge nurse.Takes specimens to the laboratory.Demonstrates and ability to be flexible, organized, and functions under stressful and emergent situations.Treats patients and their families with respect and dignity.Interact professionally with patient/family and provides explanations and verbal reassurance.Maintains a good working relationship both within the department and with other departments.Documentation meets current standards and policies.Answers telephone/intercom in a timely and polite matter stating name and department and communicates information to the appropriate personnel/family.Manages and operates equipment safely and correctly.Proficient in hearing screening protocols.Proficient in newborn screening protocols.Maintains regulatory requirements.Reports to work on time and is dependable as to scheduled shifts. Completes work within designated time. Does not waste time while on the job.Wears hospital identification badge while on duty.Completes in-services as needed to maintain education level for position (at least 6 hours).Attends at least 100% of staff meeting and all mandatory in-services annually.Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.Performs Health Unit Coordinator duties.Rotates from desk, nursery, and floor assignment.Ability to operate newborn safety system.GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Knows and practices the prescribed vision, mission, values and standards of Mountain View Hospital.Participates in performance improvement activities and quality assurance.Reports to work on time and as scheduled, completes work within designated time.Wears identification while on duty.Participates in skills day.Meet requirements for quarterly bonus.Adheres to the hospital dress code.Reports to work when scheduled, not absent without prior notification.Completes assigned work, does not leave unfinished tasks for others to complete.Prioritizes tasks so that the most important tasks are completed first.Interacts with other departments and staff members in a manner which promotes optimum service to the patients and/or the public.Fosters good will among the staff members and community.Demonstrates willingness to perform tasks of a reasonable nature as directed by the supervisor.Upholds Mountain View Hospital confidentiality policy.Supports supervision and adheres to hospital policies in a positive and constructive manner.Treats employee wages and salaries confidentially.Initiates action to prevent the occurrence of any potential problems or nonconformities relating to patient care or supporting activities.Initiates, recommends, or provide solutions through designates channels.Discontinues treatment or the use of defective supplies or equipment until the condition has been rectified.Maintains competency through education, training, and in-service activities.Supports and attends on-going education on the unit.Promotes positive communication in the work environment.Does not gossip.Supportive of the Supervisor and Manager.

Qualifications
Education/Certifications:
High school graduate or equivalent. Current Nurse's Aide Certification (CNA) required. Current BLS certification and renewal as required. Knowledge of medical terminology, or must complete terminology course or within six (6) months of hire. Healthstream Computer System Annual Training.
Experience:
Previous CNA experience preferred.
Equipment/Technology:
Competent in CPSI, Excel, Word, Labdaq, Spreadsheet, and PowerPoint.
Language/Communication:
Must have the ability to effectively read, write, and speak English.
