The primary responsibility of the Health Services Director Specialist is to fulfill the Director of Nursing responsibilities during the absence of a Director of Nursing within assigned communities. Secondaryduties may include assisting the Regional Director of Health Services inquality assurance efforts when not assigned to a community.
QUALIFICATIONSMinimum two (2) years of management experience in senior living or related health programs preferredMust becomputer proficient in typing and various programs, including a background in EHRmanagementSubject to acriminal background check and drug screeningHoldscurrent unencumbered license in the state the employee resides in as a Registered NurseWilling to obtain a nursing license in assigned statesHoldscurrent CPR certificationESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Leadership
Acts as interim HSDoverseeing the daily health services operations of the designated community professionally,ensuring the highest level of care to residents in accordance with regulatorystandards and Sinceri policies and proceduresDemonstrated ability to lead and motivate othersEffective and efficient organization and time managementskillsConfident, independent thinker, and strong decision-makingabilityDemonstrated ability to organize, prioritize, and managemultiple tasks in a dynamic environmentMaintains current knowledge of the senior living industry, stateand local regulations, including current trends and best practicesMaintains and prompts adherence to organizational policy andprocedures and guidelinesUtilizes management expertise to assist communities withresident care and nursing personnel issuesCommunity Functions
Collaborates with the Management team on the advisability ofaccepting any prospective resident, taking into consideration the needs of theprospective resident, current community acuity, and staffing levels. Providein-person pre-move-in assessments if deemed necessaryEnsures that residents' care needs are met by coordinating careservices with other community professionals, including physicians, dischargeplanners, nurses, home health agency staff, case managers, and state agencypersonnel. Oversee the arrangement of ancillary services such as pharmacy,podiatry, lab, and x-ray as neededDelegates nursing tasks as allowed under applicable statenursing laws and practice acts, communicating regularly with residents, theirfamilies, and their health care practitionersProvides initial and ongoing training of staff in the area ofhealth-related services, including but not limited to providing personal care andmedication managementCommunicates regularly with residents' families regarding healthcare needs. Provide instruction and reassurance to residents and families inmaintaining health and managing medical conditionsPromote positivemotivation, identify problems and/or deficiencies, develop action plans,educate staff, and implement solutions to clinical issuesParticipates in Stateand Federal surveys and compliance investigationsUtilizes systems to minimizeorganization risk exposure not limited to risk reporting systems, resident riskhighlights, resident evaluation systems, pharmacy systems, medicationmanagement, etcMinimize liability tothe organization by anticipating problems, evaluating the magnitude of theproblem, and taking action to correct the problem and/or reduce the riskCoordinates and assistsin implementing and oversight of the organization's electronic health record(EHR) programOversight of Meaningful Moments program incoordination with Program DirectorAssists community with ongoingbehavior interventions and collaborate with Program Director, if indicatedCollaborates with CommunityRelations Director (CRD) and Administrator, providing support with sales andmarketing plan and community strategyParticipates in the community continuous qualityimprovement (CQI) committeeTogether with the Administratorand Business Office Manager, ensure the community provides effectiveorientations, ongoing training, employee development, team building, andconflict resolutionAssist Administrator and the Regional Director ofHealth Services in the recruitment, interview, orientation, and retention of healthservices staff, including potential HSD candidatesAssist community infinancial performance in achieving net operating income (NOI) margins throughmonitoring staffing, supply cost, agency cost, etcMonitor health servicesperformance regarding established budgets and proactively implement appropriatechanges to ensure positive financial results in collaboration with the Administratorand regional team
Other FunctionsWhen a Community is not assigned, the HSD Specialistmay assist in quality assurance efforts with assigned site visits,implementation of systems, and/or delegation of task to health services staffper state regulations such as medication training or skills.
