Tarana is seeking a Director of Quality to further develop our quality systems and related business processes as the company transitions to mass production. The Director of Quality will be responsible for assessing the company requirements in all facets of quality management, from product design control through production to customer order acceptance, customer service, corrective action and internal audit. As a by-product of the above actions, the Director of Quality will position Tarana to achieve ISO 9000 certification within the next 18-24 months.Close collaboration with Tarana’s product development, operations, customer support and product management teams is required. This role requires deep knowledge of quality systems and system implementation to train company employees and guide creation and implementation of effective systems appropriate to Tarana’s growing business.Qualified applicants with strong project management, people management and communication skills will have a hands-on approach to leading quality system creation and implementation. The person for this position has a positive, team-first attitude, leads by example, enjoys sharing knowledge to advance the team and is willing to learn and master new technologies. You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.Job Responsibilities:Assist executive management team with the development of a corporate quality planQuality management of the company’s products, including developing and managing measurement systems that incorporate Customer’s View of Quality in-process manufacturing quality and machine capabilityActs as corporate interface to customers on quality related topicsOversee and direct the overall quality direction of the corporation and effectiveness of the quality management system, including future implementation of the ISO 9001 programAssess Tarana Wireless’ Quality System and develop Gap AnalysisDevelop and implement Tarana Quality Organization improvement planDevelop Quality organization and infrastructure while implementing Quality metrics systems, tools, etcFurther development of the company's supplier quality system
Supplier audit systemsContinuous improvement programsFirst article process development
Develop corrective actions to support supplier problems and failures, suggesting modifications and corrective actions by suppliers to meet customer specifications and standardsMaintain a quality assessment system to monitor corporate objectivesProvide training and leadership at all levels of the company to build understanding and create a quality cultureEnsure products and services meet customer needs and expectations to fulfill corporate quality objectivesCreate and sustain a culture that is based on continuous improvementDevelops and implements a quality production program to ensure conformity of purchased material and final products to quality standardsIdentify areas where product or service quality requires corrective actionFoster a culture of customer obsession, ownership, and innovation within the quality teamCollaborate with other departments (engineering, operations, and customer support) to address quality-related issuesEnsure compliance with industry standards and regulatory requirementsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product quality throughout the development lifecycleDevelop and maintain quality metrics, track performance and drive corrective actionsDrive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product reliability and customer satisfactionLead, mentor, and inspire a team of quality professionalsDefine and implement quality standards, processes and best practicesDevelop and implement 18 month ISO-9001 implementation plan
Required Skills & Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Scienceor related field (MS degree
preferred)Proven experience (10+ years) in Quality Management Leadership in
Electronics Manufacturing environment is required,
preferably in WirelessCommunications or NetworkingSignificant prior team leadership experience in broad quality system creation and implementation programs in products based on functional materials, chemicals, and electronics assemblyExperience and understanding of electronic product development milestone gate processesDemonstrated ability to define, build and manage an electronic OEM quality organizationExperience with quality management systems (ISO 9001, Six Sigma, etc.)Significant direct roles in implementation of more than one major ISO 9000 certification programKnowledge and hands-on experience implementing quality systems in contract manufacturing environmentsPrior experience working with CM partners, including process transfer between plantsPrior wireless and RF experience preferredStrong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and guide a teamExcellent problem-solving and analytical abilitiesEffective communication and collaboration skillsPassion for delivering high-quality products that exceed customer needsThe salary range for this position is: $200,000 to $230,000Compensation will be determined based on several factors including, but not limited to: skill set, years of experience and the employee’s geographic location.Tarana provides competitive benefits to employees in this role including: Medical, dental and vision benefits, 401K match, flexible time off and stock options.
