Senior Tax Accountant
POSITION SUMMARY
As a Tax Senior, your primary responsibilities will consist of tax consulting and tax return preparation duties, including tax research, tax planning, and the preparation of supporting work papers for various tax returns and tax related projects. You will work with a variety of entities such as corporations, partnerships, estates, trusts, and non-profits. In addition, you will be exposed to a variety of industries including real estate, consumer industrial products, service based companies, and not-for-profits. You will manage staff & review their work for all projects.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare & review tax returns for pass-through entities, C-corporations, trusts, and high-net worth individualsAssure compliance with federal, state and local tax laws and regulationsConduct research and planning to resolve client issues according to applicable tax laws and regulationsBasic understanding of U.S. tax laws as it relates to ownership of foreign entities by a U.S. person.Minimize tax liability through sound and informed application of laws and regulationsProvide assistance during tax auditsRespond to notices from tax authoritiesDirect client contact involving income tax matters, transactional consulting, tax research, and compliance.Ability to anticipate client questions and is prepared to respond with practical solutions than can be implementedAdvise, guide, coach and provide encouragement to team membersTrain & manage staffAssign work to preparers and follow up on their progressComplete assigned projects in a timely manner and keep supervisors apprised of job status
SKILL REQUIREMENTS
Outstanding organization and project management skillsAbility to work independently and coordinating priorities with the help of more senior members of the teamTeam player and can collaborate with other individuals in the organizationHighly motivated and takes initiative for professional growth and developmentExcellent analytical and problem-solving skillsProficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Power Point, especially Excel)QuickBooks and ProSystems experience is a plusHigh level of interpersonal skills with demonstrated poise, tact, and diplomacyExcellent communication skills, written and verbal, with the ability to clearly communicate issues to all levels of managementPositive attitude and excitement to learnAbility to travel to client locations, which may include occasional overnight staysAbility to work overtime, as needed
QUALIFICATIONS
2-5 years of prior experience in public accountingMust be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis upon hire
