The role is situated in the San Francisco, California office of the firm; however, alternative location in the Silicon Valley office will also be taken into consideration. Frequent travel between offices is expected.

This position will report to the Litigation Management Chair - California with a dotted line reporting to local Office Managing Partner.

The Litigation Strategy Manager – Northern California will play a crucial role in overseeing the staffing of legal matters across multiple offices in California. This influential position will support all aspects of matter staffing for multiple offices, collaborating with local office management to ensure optimal staffing for all matters through effective project management and extensive California specific litigation expertise.

Internally, this involves developing an intimate understanding of attorney caseloads, individual attorney strengths, areas of expertise, capacity and billable hours trends. The Litigation Strategy Manager will recognize nuances in each matter including client preferences, attorney/client working style compatibility and complexity of litigation, to determining the best attorney(s) for the case.

The Litigation Strategy Manager – Northern California will actively oversee attorney work hours to ensure that each lawyer is progressing toward meeting the firm's annual billable requirement.

Externally, the Litigation Strategy Manager – Northern California will possess extensive knowledge and experience with California state and local courts, presiding judges, and plaintiff's counsel for each case. This role involves taking ownership of the entire life cycle of attorney matter staffing, requiring a strong ability to influence key stakeholders and a demonstrated track record of collaboration and sound judgment.

Litigation Strategy Manager – Northern California

Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of litigation matter staffing, including an understanding of each case/demand letter/charge/or other matter's unique requirements, individual attorney knowledge, skills, and abilities, along with advanced knowledge in all areas of California employment litigation.Utilize current firm resources and technology while reviewing and recommending any additional resources deemed necessary.Ensure that each attorney has the proper caseload volume to stay on track to meet firm billable requirements.Take responsibility for the transition of matters during attorney departures, leaves of absence, potential leaves of absence, as well as integration of new hire attorneys.Establish and nurture a mentor/coach relationships with attorneys to foster their professional development.Adopt a client-focused approach when considering every matter, be it with an insurance carrier or an internal assignment. Recognize the significance of each opportunity to nurture and strengthen client relationships within local offices.

Skills and Educational Requirements:

Bachelor's degree required; JD preferredA minimum of 5 years of law firm employment litigation experience with experience in all types of litigation including class action and PAGA.Demonstrated experience in a fast-paced, high-volume litigation practice with varying degrees of complexity is required.

For California, the expected salary range for this position is between $120,000 - $140,000. The actual compensation will be determined based on experience and other factors permitted by law.
