Position Summary
State Street is a systemically important financial institution that provides custody, trustee, administration and related services on a global basis to a range of institutional clients. We are seeking an attorney to support State Street’s Investment Services business in North America, with a particular focus on ERISA clients and public pension plan clients. Responsibilities will include:
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating trust agreements, custody agreements and other service agreements and disclosuresAnalyzing regulatory issues impacting the business, in particular those related to ERISAAdvising on claims, errors and potential litigationProviding legal advice based on strong critical thinking, problem-solving and technical legal skillsCollaborating with business, compliance and legal partners to find solutions to challenging regulatory, contractual and operational issuesProviding legal and regulatory advice to business colleagues to support strategic changes to State Street’s business model, including new products, services, and partnerships
Position Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
Juris Doctor from an accredited United States law schoolLicense to practice in Massachusetts or another state of the United StatesSignificant (4+ years) experience in the corporate department of a major law firm and/or the financial services sectorExperience with the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (ERISA)Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and technical legal analysis skillsExcellent communication skills, both written and verbalDemonstrated ability to build positive working relationships with legal colleagues and senior executives, including the ability to appropriately challenge and offer an alternative point of viewAbility to communicate and interact effectively across multiple levels and functional areas within a large organizationThe ability to work in a varied and dynamic environment
Salary Range
$120,000 - $202,500 Annual
