We serve clients with a high-touch on-site and onshore presence, leveraged by a global delivery platform.Job OverviewThe Director builds and nurtures client partnerships, provides leadership to project teams, drives business development efforts in both new and established accounts, and supports the development and commercialization of new products and services. He/she is familiar with the capabilities of all KMK business units (marketing sciences, SFE and data services) and works closely with them to win new projects in assigned accounts. As a recognized expert in healthcare market research, the Director"s expertise is respected and sought out by clients and colleagues alike. The Director also supports the Principal in developing market research business unit strategy, and implementing marketing initiatives.Duties and Responsibilities1. Research Management- Provide leadership and guidance to direct reports and assigned project teams in the design and conduct of market research projects and programs- The Director may also personally conduct interviews as part of high value qualitative research engagements- Ensure that individual research studies are aligned with larger client strategies and priorities- Review analyses, presentations and reports, making sure that they deliver commercially valuable insights and recommendations and also tell the story in a compelling manner- Present research findings to clients as appropriate2. Client Engagement- Develop and implement annual account plans for all key accounts- Drive business development efforts in assigned accounts, coordinating closely with other KMK Consulting BUs.- Keep up-to-date on client business issues and therapeutic markets of interest- Provide value to clients beyond the conduct of research projects and programs (e.g. consulting, training)- Conduct annual performance reviews with key clients3. Capability Development and Process Improvement- Develop and train assigned staff through a combination of on-the-job training and coaching- Direct the creation of formal training materials and programs and facilitate training sessions as appropriate- Direct the creation of SOP documents and best practice principles- Support the Principal in market research R&D efforts by gathering client input on unmet needs and spearheading commercialization of new research tools and servicesQualificationsEducationBachelor"s degree required. Advanced degree in a relevant area is desirable but not necessary.ExperienceThe Director will have at least 8 to 10 years of relevant work experience with hands on experience in all aspects of qualitative and quantitative market research design and execution. He/she will also have had experience leading and developing market research teams. A successful track record in account management and delivery against sales targets is highly desirable.Knowledge, Skills and AbilitiesThe Director, Market Research will have strong analytical and communication skills (both oral and written) as well as a demonstrated ability to develop persuasive arguments from empirical evidence.He/she will have an excellent understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of research and analytic techniques across a wide range of applications and know how to apply them most effectively. The Director will also have an excellent understanding of the secondary and syndicated data sources that are commonly used in the industry (e.g. IMS, Symphony). He/she will also be familiar with market research trends and innovations as well as competitor offerings.The Director will be completely fluent in the use of a broad range of consultative 'knowledge frameworks', facile in adapting them to novel situations and adept at leveraging their power to drive commercial value for clients. Combined with an excellent knowledge of industry dynamics and experience across a range of therapy areas and business issues, the Director is well positioned as a consultative business partner.As a 'seller-doer' the Director must be able to effectively balance sales and production and constantly seek out ways to boost productivity, most importantly by developing and retaining a high performance team of managers and analysts to whom individual projects can be entrusted.The Director is distinguished from the Manager by his/her demonstrated ability to successfully execute strategic account management, engage clients as a consultative business partner, deliver sales results and drive productivity and innovation.Competence in using PowerPoint, Excel and Word is essential. Familiarity with statistical software-in particular, SAS, is desirable but not necessary.Values and BehaviorsThe Director is expected to demonstrate the company values and behaviors (spirit of innovation, focus on people, integrity and professionalism, personal accountability) at an advanced level.Physical RequirementsThe Director position is office based with travel as necessary to support market research studies and to attend client meetings, relevant industry conferences and training. Under certain circumstances, the Director may work on projects requiring temporary relocation to client offices.ScopeSupervision ReceivedThe Director reports to the Principal, Market Research.Supervision ExercisedThe Director will supervise two or more managers and analysts, composed of direct reports and temporary staff assigned on a project basis.Budget ResponsibilityThe Director will typically handle a portfolio of projects totaling between $1M and $3M per year in gross revenue.
