The Leidos Digital Modernization Sector Health IT Division is seeking a Senior Azure Solution Architect with extensive knowledge and expertise in Microsoft Azure technologies and architecture. The Senior Azure Solution Architect will play a pivotal role the cloud migration journey for Federal Health customers, and will design, implement, and optimize cloud-based solutions on the Azure platform, ensuring a scalable, secure, and high-performing infrastructure that aligns with end user research and operational needs. The Senior Azure Solution Architect will collaborate closely with SecDevOps teams, stakeholders, and Azure representatives to deliver innovative solutions that accelerate cloud adoption. The Senior Azure Solution Architect will collaborate with diverse stakeholders across the customer enterprise, external partners, and Cloud Service Providers (CSPs) to ensure a seamless transition while minimizing disruptions to operations.
Candidate must be local to the DC Metro area for onsite work and be a US Citizen or US Person with the ability to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. This position is contingent upon contract award.
Primary Responsibilities
Candidate will possess an in-depth understanding of Azure services, infrastructure components, security best practices, and architectural patterns. Candidate will guide users on the optimal selection and configuration of Azure resources to meet their specific needs will be responsible for successful delivery of activities across the enterprise, including:
Cloud Architecture Design:
Help users conceptualize and design comprehensive Azure solutions, providing guidance on resource allocation, scalability, high availability, disaster recovery, and performance optimization.
Develop and maintain comprehensive cloud architecture blueprints for enterprise applications and workloads.
Evaluate and recommend the most suitable Azure services and configurations for optimal performance and cost-effectiveness.
Design scalable and resilient cloud solutions that meet NIH's workload owners specific requirements.
Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools like Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates and Terraform.
Solution Implementation:
Lead the implementation of cloud solutions, including the migration of existing applications and the development of new cloud-native applications.
Assist in the implementation process, offering insights on deployment strategies, automation, and monitoring.
Configure and optimize Azure services, ensuring adherence to best practices and security standards.
Automate cloud infrastructure provisioning and management using infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools.
Technical Guidance and Support:
Provide expert technical guidance to IT teams and stakeholders on Azure best practices, architecture patterns, and troubleshooting techniques.
Mentor and train junior cloud engineers on Azure technologies and solution design principles.
Collaborate with Azure representatives to leverage their expertise and stay informed on the latest Azure offerings.
Identify and resolve issues in existing Azure environments, analyze performance bottlenecks, and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
Provide expert advice on Azure-related topics, such as cloud migration strategies, security hardening, compliance requirements, and integration with other systems.
Performance Optimization:
Monitor cloud performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies.
Conduct regular reviews of cloud infrastructure and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
Ensure that cloud solutions are highly available, fault-tolerant, and disaster-resilient.
Security and Compliance:
Design and implement cloud security controls to protect data and applications.
Ensure compliance with relevant security standards, regulations, and policies.
Conduct regular security assessments and vulnerability scans to identify and address potential risks.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field with minimum of 12+ years of experience architecting and implementing Azure cloud solutions.
Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert certification.
Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale, complex migrations with multiple stakeholders.
Experience with Azure cloud technologies and migration strategies.
Experience with infrastructure-as-code (IaC) tools (ARM templates, Terraform) and configuration management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet).
Knowledge of containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes) and serverless computing.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills.
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with Azure DevOps for CI/CD pipelines.
ITIL Foundations certification.
Preferred Qualifications
Deep understanding of Azure services (Azure VMs, Azure Storage, Azure SQL, Azure Functions, etc.) and their integration.
Strong scripting skills (PowerShell, Bash) and experience with automation frameworks.
Experience delivering IT services in support of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or in a biomedical research environment.
One or more of the following certifications: Certified Scrum Master (CSM), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Google Cloud Professional Certification, PMI Project Management Professional (PMP).
