Senior Consultant, State Income/Franchise Tax

The State Income/Franchise Tax Senior Consultant (“Senior Consultant”) works with a team to provide complex consulting services to corporate clients. The Senior Consultant identifies tax opportunities and provides tax analysis for a wide variety of entities and their affiliates. The Senior Consultant also identifies tax implications driven by client operations and works with management to develop solutions for clients.

Provides guidance to lower level staff members.Maintains a professional and positive attitude at all times, being a team player and able to multitask and adjust to changing priorities.Assists Manager in developing project workplans and scheduling associated project deliverables.Travels to client locations to gather information and copy documents.Responds to client inquiries and requests from state agencies.Collaborates with other teams reporting to the same client to streamline reporting and deliverables.Works effectively in a complex, deadline-driven environment.Handles tasks in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy.Handles and safeguards confidential information and sensitive material.Maintains ability to quickly learn new procedures with limited direction.Possesses solid analytical aptitude, research, and problem-solving skills.Follows instructions explicitly, knowing when to ask questions to seek clarification.Utilizes strong grammar, spelling, and proofreading skills.Reviews documentation and researches issues.Works with raw data to complete calculations (i.e., accumulated depreciation, depletion, and amortization calculations).Prepares and files amended state corporate income and franchise tax returns.Drafts filings, such as petitions for redetermination, refund claims, and various other administrative replies.Performs other duties as assigned.Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting and/or Finance requiredTwo to four years income and/or franchise tax experienceComputer Skills:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must have intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Internet navigation and research. CCH and/or Lexis-Nexus skills also desired.Certificates and Licenses:

Valid driver’s license required.Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position requires limited supervisory responsibilities, including training employees, assigning work, and checking work for accuracy and completeness.Work Environment:
