Lead Transmission Specialist / Senior Authorized Person
Role Objective:
Responsible for HV system integration, operational supervision, and electrical safety rules (HV/MV/LV).Key Responsibilities:
Ensure compliance with US electrical regulations.
Delegate tasks to Transmission Specialists for onshore and offshore projects.
Manage rotaplan for Transmission Specialists and Operators.
Lead improvements in site-specific HV electrical instructions.
Implement the Offshore Wind Developer's Electrical Safety Rules on site.
Advise on HV electrical installations for WTG, offshore substations, and HV cables.
Oversee safe commissioning of grid connections and substations.
Ensure the safety and integrity of the HV network.
Coordinate MV/HV/LV commissioning activities during project construction.
Plan and oversee all switching activities on site.
Control safety documents and define safety procedures for electrical matters.
Provide technical and engineering advice and training to relevant staff.
Tasks:
Manage the Offshore Wind Developer's Electrical Safety Rules compliance and safety coordination.
Coordinate with the Lead Commissioning Project Manager for project updates.
Manage HV/MV/LV commissioning activities.
Coordinate with National Grid and attend commissioning panel meetings.
Prepare high voltage switching schedules and update schematic diagrams.
Perform site safety inspections and audits for electrical matters.
Implement training programs for relevant staff.
Assist various departments within the Offshore Wind Developer as needed.
Deliverables:
Contribute to the project commissioning management manual.
Participate in audits and FAT & SAT tests for HV equipment.
Check and update switching programs on-site.
Participate in resource and work planning.
Assess and authorize new candidates.
Decision Authority:
Final say on MV/HV switching and isolations.
Issue the Offshore Wind Developer's Electrical Safety Rules documents.
Manage the Transmission Specialist permit office and operational staff.
Qualifications:
Appropriate electrical qualification and background in high voltage electricity.
Several years of operation and commissioning experience, preferably offshore.
Minimum 3 years of experience with onshore substation systems.
Ability to pass GWO and medical courses for offshore work (weight limit – 120kg/264lb).
