IntroductionThe project manager is appointed by, and serves at the pleasure of, the Governor. This recruitment will be used to fill two vacancies.
The project manager will work as part of the Innovation Team to prioritize workstreams, conduct research, develop implementation plans, and manage various efforts simultaneously – effectively engaging all necessary team members to support success throughout the process.

Responsibilities:
Collaborate with a Chief Innovation Officer, Deputy Director, and other Innovation Team
members to improve the lives of Marylanders
Consult with internal and external experts to fully understand issue areas and generate
innovative, feasible solutions
Research specific policy areas that are priorities of the Innovation Team, the State and
Governor’s Office
Develop detailed implementation plans and ensure effective and efficient delivery of
solutions to meet specific targets
Establish strong relationships with partners, including government officials, private and
nonprofit sector leaders, and residents
Effectively monitor progress of workstreams and communicate across the team as appropriate
Support team members in the development and execution of implementation plans for Innovation Team projects
Maintain a high level of organization to coordinate projects across the Innovation Team
Assist with questions, needs, and concerns – internally and externally - by handling,
delegating, or escalating incoming as appropriate
Other duties and projects as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSThe successful candidate will have demonstrated many or preferably all of the following:
Experience defining and managing projects alongside diverse stakeholders who are
instrumental to successful delivery
Track record of delivering results in a high-pressure environment and for multiple
workstreams
Problem solving skills and an ability to anticipate challenges and develop solutions to
maintain timelines and meet deadlines
Passion for public service and making a positive difference in the lives of Marylanders
Understanding of the civic innovation space
Ability to navigate an ambiguous environment with excitement and enthusiasm
A track record of demonstrating and successfully applying the following characteristics:
Excellent ability to simplify information and concepts, to formulate options and
recommendations, and to communicate with all levels of management and
workforce to achieve objectives
Effective listener - probes, surfaces, and shares new ideas and ways of doing
things
A “self-starter” motivated by the achievement of the organization, the team, and

A team player, with the ability to organize, assign, and track completion of work
by direct and indirect team members
Organized, with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple priorities and work
