Marcum LLP is actively looking for an Assurance Director to join our growing and well-established national firm in our Nashville office. The position requires a high-energy, experienced audit professional with strong interpersonal and supervisory skills.
Assurance Directors
are responsible for managing assurance engagements, with minimum oversight by Partners, be an active role model and leader for staff to emulate. Meet billable hour and annual CPE requirements.
Travel
Travel frequently to client office locations.
Responsibilities
Work closely with Partners on assigned client engagements from start to finish.
Work with team members to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, analysis, and research.
Oversee and coordinate all phases of audit engagements, review work papers for accuracy and completeness, and review financial statements for suitability of presentation and adequacy of disclosures, and ensure work is on schedule.
Generate and manage the engagement budget and profitability in all engagement areas.
Take the lead role in managing engagements
Review and evaluate work papers and determine compliance with professional standards and firm policy.
Review with the engagement partner significant findings that raise questions involving auditing standards and firm policy.
Manage risk and ensure quality control procedures are being executed.
Be involved in practice development and supervision of multiple engagements.
Assume responsibility for billing and collections when circumstances permit.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with client management.
Provide on the job training to subordinates
Generate new business annually for new and existing clients.
Confident ability to present audit report findings directly to client board members
Represent the firm by presenting on areas of expertise at third party events, and industry seminars on a national and local platform.
Effectively manage employee and client expectations
Complete performance evaluations constructively and timely, and also provide ongoing performance feedback to employees.
Serve in a counselor role with staff on their performance engagement results and goal setting process for their continued professional development.
Maintain required annual CPE’s and licensing requirements.
Qualifications
BBA/BS/MS in Accounting
Must be a licensed CPA
10+ years of relevant public accounting experience, specifically in the healthcare industry.
Advanced knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)/Tax Law knowledge
Ability to articulately communicate
professional/technical
knowledge
Effective business advisory skills
Decisively identify and execute solutions to problems.
Thorough understanding of complex technical issues
Ability to meet deadline with accuracy.
Strong communication, research, analytical and writing skills.
Proven technical skills with, Excel, Word and Outlook
Experience with accounting software. Prosystem FX engagement preferred.
Solid organization skills with a demonstrated ability to multi-task
Active listening skills.
Strong time management, analytical and research skills
Must have personal vehicle, with flexibility to travel.
Required to be in the office and/or client locations minimally three days per week.
