We are seeking an experienced IT Database Administrator to join our team. As a Database Administrator at Cianbro, you will play a key role in designing, building, and operating a robust data architecture that supports the growth of our company and enables new business capabilities. Job Responsibilities Collaborate with IT and business teams to understand and define data-related problems, identify and meet data structure and storage requirements, and maximize data value. Design and implement database structure, architecture, and platforms that effectively support the needs of the company. Develop and refine standards, processes, procedures, and guidelines for database environments using industry experiences, best practices research, and business needs. Stay current with emerging technologies and advancements in data management and warehousing. Data Governance Partner with internal teams to design data management and governance protocols, manage the information lifecycle, design infrastructure, and data integration controls. Develop and implement data security policies, procedures, and best practices to protect sensitive information and meet compliance objectives. Collaborate within the business on the design of data capture, validation, and structures for maximum data quality and reuse. Contribute to data standardization, data strategy, governance, and change management. Database Management Design, configure, implement, and maintain databases and supporting architecture. Monitor database performance, and conduct regular maintenance, tuning, and optimization. Monitor and manage the performance, availability, and reliability of critical data services. Review and manage ETL processes to ensure optimization and best practices. Develop, implement, and maintain database backup and recovery strategies to ensure data reliability and minimize downtime. Identify and resolve database performance issues, such as slow queries, inefficient indexing, or resource contention. Conduct database capacity planning to anticipate future storage and performance needs. Implement and maintain database monitoring tools to proactively identify and resolve issues. Participate in data mapping, integrations, and migrations between transactional systems in support of ongoing operations, systems implementations, mergers, and acquisitions. Contribute to the overall master data architecture and management in a multi-system environment. Documentation and Reporting Create and maintain comprehensive documentation of data architecture and systems, including schema, configurations, and standard operating procedures. Build, maintain, and publish data architecture and database specifications, schemas, and technical documentation. Generate regular reports on database performance, usage, and security compliance for management and stakeholders. Qualifications/Requirements Self-starting problem solver who is curious, detail-oriented, and organized, with a proactive, continuous-improvement mindset and the desire to learn and grow. Ability to manage competing priorities and exercise judgement on the best way to reach goals and objectives. Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and verbal), with the ability to convey ideas in both technical and business-friendly language. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment, with a strong customer-service orientation. Willingness to learn and teach others in the pursuit of team growth. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in data science, software development, Information Technology, or related field. 8 years of work experience in related disciplines. Deep understanding of data modeling, normalization, schema design, dimensional modeling, enterprise data warehouse design and implementation, master data management, and best practices. Versed in database tuning, indexing, optimization, maintenance, and automation. Experience with common database platforms, related tools, and concepts: MS SQL Server, Oracle, Azure SQL and Data Lake, PL/SQL, T-SQL queries, Power BI, SSIS, SSAS, SSRS, REST APIs. Experience with enterprise database architecture design, data integrations and ETL tools, data transport mechanisms, REST APIs, and functional concepts. Helpful certifications include Microsoft SQL Server and Azure Data Lake.
