Director, Operational Risk Oversight

Global Risk Services’ mission is to partner with RGA’s global workforce to facilitate sound risk analysis for decision making to achieve RGA’s strategic and financial objectives.The Director, Operational Risk Oversightworks with Global Risk Services to lead and embed the operational risk management framework at the enterprise level.Responsibilities

Manages the Operational Risk FrameworkManages and improves the operational risk management framework to ensure that it is user-friendly and adds maximum value to RGAPartners with global stakeholders to align RGA’s Operational Risk taxonomy with overall ERM frameworkPrepares insights for the Operational Risk Committee and provide operational risk reports and updates for leadershipManages operational risk policies and standardsResponsible for providing 2nd line oversight and objective challenge for operational risk matters, risk assessments and risk incident reportingPartners across geographies and with global stakeholders to lead all operational risk related incident reporting at the enterprise level, ensuring appropriate actions for timely resolutionOperational Risk Committee (ORC) Secretary:Supports the Chair of the ORC in executing role & responsibilitiesResponsible for coordinating and preparing the ORC agenda and materialsTaking minutes of all ORC meetingsSupports the execution of a Global Enterprise Risk Management Program to deliverbetter insights and anenterprise view of

exposure, relative to established tolerances.Coordinate and facilitate the risk identification and assessment processAssist in the inherent and residual risk assessment process for all operational risksReview and challenge first line assessments, including impact and other criteriaAssist in the implementation of a revised operational risk taxonomy across the enterpriseParticipate in the development of Key Risk Indicators (KRIs), dashboards and other reporting requirementsSupport the integration of the program into RGA’s existing Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) frameworkAssist the VP, Head of Global Risk Oversight & Operational RiskAssist the VP, Head of Global Risk Oversight & Operational Risk with various tasks and activities as neededOther:Participates in special projects, committees, and meetings as requiredPerforms other duties as requiredJOB SPECIFICATIONS

Requirements

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCERequired:• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience• 5 years of experience in enterprise risk management or related risk fields with responsibilitiesPreferred:• Recognized enterprise risk management designation or education• Master’s Degree, MBA, FSA or CPA/CA• Cross company and/or cross industry risk management experienceSKILLS AND ABILITIESRequired:• Experience working in enterprise risk management disciplines with a focus on risk & control self-assessments, emerging risks and key risk indicators• Strong oral and written communication skills, demonstrating the ability to convey business terminology that is meaningful and well received by all stakeholders at various levels• Ability to communicate effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders• Excellent ability to drive to conclusions and deliver results on a timely basis• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills utilizing experience, research, guidelines, and internal resource networks• Ability to identify and resolve technical, operational and organizational issues• Advanced project management skills. Demonstrates ability to evaluate project objectives and scope feasibility, gain understanding, schedule resources, and manage budget to plan• Expert skills in managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, including the ability to handle changing priorities• Ability to foster a collaborative, teamwork oriented and customer service focused environment that leads to consistent, value-adding solutions• Able to quickly learn and understand the business of RGA• Able to work autonomously as part of a global team and also manage time zone scheduling challenges• Advanced Microsoft Office skills including spreadsheets and presentation software• Sound attention to detailCompany Overview

Base pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location.
