The Structural Project Engineer will report to an assigned Project Manager in the Structural department. The Structural Project Engineer’s main job responsibilities include providing technical expertise in design, design calculations, drawing preparation, and field reviews on Structural projects. The individual is required to work on multiple assignments with overlapping schedules and needs to be able to multi-task to accomplish all tasks. The Structural Project Engineer will work towards becoming a Senior Project Engineer.Supervisory Responsibilities:

The Structural Project Engineer will have regular contact with clients and design team members and will be representative of RLG’s standards.Essential Duties / Responsibilities:

The Structural Project Engineer's duties and responsibilities will fall under multiple categories including but not limited to: Technical, Communication, Leadership, and Development of Clients. These duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Solve Engineering problems with direction from supervisorPrepare construction documents for supervisor’s reviewAssist in preparing technical reports and specifications for projectsReview submittals based on construction documentsUse and understand design software and develop methods to validate resultsPerform engineering duties such as planning, designing, and overseeing projectsResearch and analyze data to plan projectsPrepare design modules and calculations for various structural elementsPrepare documents using BIM softwareDevelop knowledge of building codes and city permitting requirementsDevelop knowledge of RLG’s clients and design team consultantsCoordination of design work with architects and other engineering disciplinesPerform other related duties as assignedRequirementsRequired Skills / Abilities:Proficient with Revit softwarePositive attitudeSelf-MotivatedHigh attention to detailStrong Communication skills both in person and in writingStrong Comprehension skills, both in person and writingStrong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities under deadlinesEducation and Experience:Bachelor’s degree in Civil / Structural Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or related field requiredEngineer In Training (EIT) Certificate PreferredPhysical Requirements and Work Environment:Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerOccasional attendance of technical events and seminars, some travel requiredMust be able to lift 15 pounds at times
