Charge Nurse , youll be responsible for supervising and directing nursing care in all clinical areas of the facility according to its policies, procedures, philosophy, and objectives. Youll work closely with the ASC Manager/Administrator and medical staff in coordinating patient-care service functions within the facility.Responsibilities:Makes staffing assignments in every area to ensure adequate coverageTrains, coaches and mentors ASC staffEncourages a team oriented environment and follows company guidelines and policiesFosters development of strong relationships and keeps an open line of communication between the surgery center staff, clinic staff and providers to ensure high productivityGreets and admits patients to the pre-/post-operative area; works in the OR as assignedAssists with patient scheduling in all clinical areasCares for the patient in a variety of settings, providing professional nursing care in ambulatory surgery center and completes appropriate documentationAssumes the role and responsibilities of circulating nurse as assignedAssesses, plans, implements and evaluates patient care using the nursing process and taking into account individual patient needsChecks vital signs, inserts and removes IV catheters, assesses patient needs and reports abnormal values to the physician, anesthesia staff, and/or surgery staffEnsures that all consent and acknowledgement forms are signed and witnessedVerifies the surgery type and location to be performedAdministers drops and all medications in accordance with current guidelinesAssists in finding resolution of problems to ensure surgical case flow continues uninterruptedEnsures patient continuity of care with family and/or significant othersWorks with the Nursing Director, ASC Manager and/or Administrator and Quality & Compliance to ensure the center abides by all surgery standards and regulationsMay assume responsibilities for ASC Manager as Acting Administrator in their absenceDelivers discharge instructions and discharges patient in accordance with current guidelinesOrders supplies for pre-op/recovery and sterile processing areas as neededMaintains familiarity with code procedure and crash cartMakes recommendations on the orientation process for new hires and ensures documentation of the samePerforms any and all duties assignedQualifications:
Associates degree required; BSN preferredCurrent Arizona RN License1+ years Ophthalmologic Nursing experience preferred1+ years management/charge experience preferredBLS certification requiredACLS required within 6 months of hiringDetail oriented, reliable and able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume work environmentExcellent verbal and written communication skillsAbility to work independentlyDedication to creating an exceptional patient experienceBasic knowledge of scheduling and insurance authorizationFlexible schedule Monday-Friday
