Speech-Language Pathologist Assistant

Primary PurposeAssist the speech-language pathologist (SLP) in providing speech and language therapy services to students with speech, voice, language or other communication disorders under the supervision of a licensed speech-language pathologist supervisor. Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.
Qualifications
Education/Certification/LicensureBachelor's degree with an emphasis in communicative sciences and disorders from an accredited college or universitySpeech-Language Pathologist Assistant License granted by the Texas Department of Licenses and Regulations (TDLR)
Special Knowledge/SkillsEffective communication and interpersonal skillsKnowledge of speech-language disorders and therapy techniques for remediation of communication disordersAbility to provide instruction and to manage student behaviorOpenness to change and innovation to meet the needs of all students
ExperienceMinimum one year providing services in a public-school setting preferred
Major Responsibilities and DutiesProvide designated speech-language pathology scope of practice services under the TDLR Rulesand the supervision of an approved licensed speech-language pathologist supervisor.Provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students only in the areas in which trainingand skill level proficiency have been determined by the supervising SLP.Collaborate with classroom teachers to implement classroom activities under the approval andsupervision of a licensed SLP.Comply with policies established by federal and state laws, TDLR Rules and district policies.Comply with all federal, state, district and campus policies regarding confidentiality.Abide by the TDLR Rules and Code of Ethics.Maintain a copy of performance and supervised therapy records per TDLR rules.Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goalsExhibit CCISD Core Values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality professional learning opportunities for personal growth.Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.Demonstrates proficient levels of technology applications.Participates fully in drills and safety exercises to provide for the safety and overall emotional wellbeing of students.Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of theschool/department are met.Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.Maintain and submit appropriate documentation for SHARS billing per district procedures.

Physical Demands/Environmental FactorsFrequent district-wide travel using personal vehicle; frequent prolonged and irregular hours.
