PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITY:

The Front Office reception/eligibility I worker is responsible for reception and patient check-in, medical records and chart management, medical interpretation, and patient eligibility screening. The Front Office Eligibility I must demonstrate in their performance, adherence to established policies and procedures exhibiting the defined characteristics associated with the attendance and punctuality.

MAJOR DUTIES:Greet, and assist patients courteously, utilizing G.U.E.S.T. standards to determine their needs and direct them appropriately.Work closely with nursing staff to determine provider/nursing availability and to flag via our Electronic Medical Record (EMR) any urgent medical needs.Register new patients, ensure complete information on registration form, and enter information in Practice Management system. Assist patients with completion of registration forms as needed.Ensure complete patient information on narrative record and update intake sheet. Assist patients with completion of intake forms as needed.Enter patient demographic and visit information into database/computer system, Practice Management System, and/or Electronic Medical Record as appropriate.Schedule new and follow-up appointments in Practice Management system.Screen telephone calls; make appointments via telephone; take messages for staff and providers; properly transfer telephone calls; make patient reminder calls; check answering machine and fax daily.Act as clinic resource for patient questions. Working as part of the clinic team knowing your presence is an essential function for the team to be successful.Inform patients of Notice of Privacy Practices, obtain patients signed acknowledgement and consent.Maintain forms and office supplies required for front desk activities.Securing the clinic at the close of each working day, turn off computers, clear all working areas and secure patient information.Assure the readiness of the reception area for each working day. Have all front desk activities fully operational at start of business hours.At end of work day ensure that the waiting areas are neat and organized.Support the front office staff with data/report entry.Assist with the indexing and scanning of documentation into our (EMR) Electronic Medical record system.Assist with the collecting of provider processed CHDP PM 160.Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor, Clinic Director, or Lead Physician.Follow Front Office procedures in emergency situations (911, CSS, etc.).St. Anthony Medical Clinic practices care in a team based setting. The MA/Health Educator will be an active member of the team, contributing to and abiding by team ground rules. Works with team to ensure high quality care and attainment of team goals.Attend all training as necessary for various eligibility programs, including Healthy San Francisco, Healthy Families, Healthy Kids and Youth, and Medi-Cal.Pass all necessary tests and qualify for certification as a Certified Applicant Assistor.Collect patient financial and demographic information.Using Federal Poverty Guidelines and One-E-App, or other program, to identify, certify, and enroll patients for appropriate healthcare entitlement programs.Assist patient in interpreting any bills received and refer patient to appropriate resource for help reconciling billing issues.Adhere to Healthy San Francisco Certified Application Assistor (CAA) agreement, code of ethics and regulations.Provide interpretation and facilitate accurate communication for between non-English speaking patients and providers, nurses and other staff as needed.Skills & RequirementsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Two years demonstrated work experience - preferably in a medical/clinical setting.High School diploma or GED required.Strong customer service skills required.Bilingual Spanish/English, Cantonese/English, Vietnamese/English, or other Asian language desired.Ability to work successfully with a culturally diverse and economically disadvantaged patient population.Proficient with various computer programs, such as Microsoft Office, Microsoft Excel, email, etc.Excellent work habits: punctual, reliable, cooperative attitude, good attention to detail, team player.Ability to be polite, tactful, firm with public.
