Salary: $46.77 - $60.12 HourlyLocation : Highland Lakes Campus (Waterford)Job Type: Part-Time HourlyJob Number: 202400024Division: Dental HygieneOpening Date: 05/22/2024Closing Date: ContinuousShift Days/Hours: VariesSummary of Purpose Duties and Responsibilities of OCC DHY Supervising DentistGeneral Responsibility: To oversee and supervise dental hygiene students during their daily clinical activities when interacting with their patients and providing treatment.Starting Hourly Rate: $46.77/hour3 - 5 Years at OCC: $53.43/hour5 + Years at OCC: $60.12/hour Typical Duties Specific Duties and Responsibilities:Oversees students and examine hygiene patients for clinical signs and symptoms of oral pathology, dental caries, periodontal disease, providing a dental diagnosis.Provide guidance to dental hygiene students when treating patients with compromising medical conditions and special needs patients.Approves and orders dental radiographs, approves re-takes when necessary.Diagnoses dental conditions and suggests appropriate referrals.Provide American Academy of Periodontology periodontal classification to each patient treated in the dental clinic.Recommend medical/dental referrals to the appropriate health-care provider. Providing individual recommendations for students about patient management Provides objective instruction to dental hygiene students and provide information about private practice.Instruct and grade each individual student on their ability to detect and record clinical findings and on their ability to perform the following procedures:Application of dental sealantsDiagnostic study modelsRadiographic SurveysIntra-Oral ImagingComplete Mouth ChartingsPeriodontal ChartingsFabrication/Delivery of bleaching traysPouring and trimming study models / bleaching traysRadiographic interpretationUse of nitrous-oxide sedationUse of local anesthesiaProvide local anesthesia to patients as needed.Prescribe necessary prescription medications determined by evaluation.Follow policies and procedures of the dental hygiene clinic, assist with running of the dental hygiene clinic, and completing assigned assignments and duties requested by the Clinical Coordinators/Program Coordinator Complete Daily assessment and grading of the dental hygiene students assigned to you for clinic session. Attend regularly scheduled faculty meetings, and participate in faculty in-service training.General and Department administrative duties as determined by the Dental Hygiene Program Coordinators and Clinical Coordinators.Provide dental hygiene students with clinical remediation and tutoring if needed.Ability to teach and communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds.Role Model Professional Ethics and Standards. Minimum Education and Experience Required Education: Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD). Required Work Experience: Recent clinical experience.
