Mission or Goal of Unit:
The mission of the Departmentof Obstetrics and Gynecology is to provide the highest quality clinical care inboth general and specialty Obstetrics and Gynecology to the women of central Virginia.In addition, to the clinical mission, the department has the allied goals ofproviding undergraduate and graduate medical education in the field and advancingthe field through basic and clinical research
The department iscommitted to enhancing diversity among its faculty, staff, and students.Finally, the department faculty has the responsibility to provide service totheir profession and to the University community.
Chief Purpose of this position:
The Department ofObstetrics and Gynecology is seeking qualified candidates to provide specialtycare in reproductive endocrinology and infertility to patients at VCU Health. The position willinclude participation in student and resident education and facilitating thecreation of a Fellowship program. The position also includes participating inthe department's clinical research activities.
Position Responsibilities:
TeachingThe faculty member will have teachingresponsibilities to include actively participating in the department's educational activities, with particularattention to educating students and residents in their core educational objectivesin reproductive endocrinology and infertility.
ResearchThe person filling the position is encouragedto initiate clinical research projects. They are expected to participate in and facilitate other department researchand contribute to scholarly publications/presentations.
ServiceThe faculty member will serve on departmental,hospital and/or university committees as necessary, as well as in aprofessional capacity in their field. They will also be assigned to committees at the discretion of the divisiondirector and department chair.
ClinicalFull participation in the clinical activitiesof the reproductive endocrinology and infertility division is expected. Clinical activities are to be determined thedivision director but are expected to include a combination of clinic,inpatient care, and operating room. Outpatient responsibilities may be at VCU Medical Center or off-site atthe discretion of the chair and division director.
OtherParticipate indepartment and institutional administrative activities as assigned by thesection chief and chair.
Required Qualifications:Completion of ABOG or ACGME accredited fellowship training in Reproductive Endocrinology & InfertilityEligible for medical license in VirginiaDemonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCUDemonstrated commitment to teaching and patient carePreferred Qualifications:
Completion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residencyCertification by the American Board of OB/GYN in General OB/GYN and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility; candidates who completed their fellowship recently enough that they are not yet eligible to sit for the exam will be considered with the expectation that they take the certification exams at the earliest opportunityPotential for scholarship or creative expression to complement and expand existing expertise in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology
