OutpatientResponsibilities:
The Rheumatologist will be responsible for:
Diagnosing various endocrine disorders such as diabetes, thyroid disorders (hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism), adrenal disorders (Cushing's syndrome, Addison's disease), pituitary disorders, metabolic disorders, and moreDeveloping treatmentReview patient's history and perform physical examinationEvaluate, diagnose and provide appropriate treatment and patient careRecommend and order lab tests including X-rays of the joints to determine extent of illness or help diagnose conditionDiagnose disorders and diseases of the musculoskeletal system and immune systemDiagnose and treat rheumatic disorders of the skeletal system, muscles and jointsTreat patients with rheumatic diseases including, but not limited to lupus, tendonitis, arthritis, myositis, scleroderma, and osteoporosisPrescribe anti-inflammatory drugs and other medicationsFormulate ongoing treatment and disease management plansRefer to occupational or physical therapy as required.Participate in medical staff educational programs and meetingsQualifications:
