Overview:

Responsible and accountable for utilizing the nursing process in the provision of patient care. The Registered Nurse, in collaboration with other members of the health care team, assesses, implements, evaluates and coordinates all patient care activities, as appropriate to the age of the patients served and areas of practice.Responsibilities:Performs assessment/data collection in an ongoing systematic manner, focusing on physiologic, cognitive and cultural diversity of the patient.Applies knowledge of illness, injuries and diseases and uses available resources in assessment processes.Provides written assessment of patient on admission and subsequently; based on patient need and IMC policy.Formulates a goal directed, individualized plan of care, prioritizes and utilizes efficient resources as developed from documented nursing diagnoses/patient care and outcomes.Collaborates as appropriate with physician and other clinical disciplines in planning interventions to meet patient and family needs.Implements plan of care, executing nursing interventions in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures.Intervenes with proper technique, procedure and safety precautions to meet individual needs of patients and families.Documents nursing interventions provided to meet assessed patient/family needs.Evaluates and documents patient response to and outcome of care provided and revises plan of care accordingly.Participates actively in staff development activities for unit and provides support and guidance to colleagues.Participates in performance improvement activities for hospital and unit/service.Works collaboratively with all members of the healthcare team.Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:Education:Bachelor's degree in Nursing.Experience:Minimum two (2) years' PACU experience in an acute care setting.Minimum two (2) years critical care experience.Knowledge and Skills:Ability to effectively communicate in English, both verbally and written.Good interpersonal and communication skills.Licenses, Certifications:Current NY State RN License requiredBasic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) requiredAdvanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)/ Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferredPhysical Requirements:Involves standing, walking, sitting, talking, hearing and bending.May include some repetitive motions.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising patient care.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.The statements herein are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees, and are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of responsibilities, duties, and skills required of personnel so classified.
