Overview:

Physical Therapy Assistant will assist in providing appropriate aspects of quality patient care, under the supervision of licensed therapists. Assistant will document all services provided to ensure accurate and timely billing of therapy services. The Assistant assures that patient care follows the established Plan of Care, the organizations guidelines, meets professional standards, community needs and is in compliance with Federal and State guidelines.Responsibilities:Provides Therapy services established by the Physical Therapist (PT) in the patient Plan of Care.Provides therapy services under the supervision of a PT as determined by the Registered Therapist and in compliance with State and Federal guidelines.Consults with PT regarding changes in treatment or condition in a timely manner.Appropriately and effectively completes documentation including daily notes and assisting the PT to create progress notes, discharge summaries, or monthly reports as needed.Submits billing, payroll, and expense documentation in a timely manner.Communicates with patients, families, referring physicians and other members of the team.Attends continuing education seminars/workshops to keep abreast of new clinical skills, programs or techniques.Participates in care planning meetings, rehab meetings and family training in order to communicate patient progress as requested by PT, Director of Rehab or Rehab Resource Consultant.Follows organizational and facility policies and procedures to ensure employee and patient safety.Ensures equipment is in good working order prior to providing care to patients. Follows procedures for reporting damaged equipment.Maintains a clean environment.Attends required meetings, in-services and functions as designated by the Director of Rehab.Coordinates treatment goals with other team members.Maintains valid licensure, certification or equivalent as requested by appropriate stateProvides brief updates on patients progress verbally, and or/in writing to the Director of Rehab, and/or during unit rounds and care plan meetings.Attends interdisciplinary meetings in accordance with the policies of the rehabilitation department of the pediatric unit.Any other duties the Director of Rehab and/or upper management may assign and/or require.

Qualifications:Education:Associate of Arts in Physical Therapy Assistant.Experience:Minimum one (1) year as a Physical Therapy Assistant experience preferred.Minimum one (1) year experience in a residential/assisted living or skilled nursing facility preferred.Minimum one (1) year experience with CVA, TBI preferred.Knowledge and Skills:Good interpersonal skillsAbility to read, write and interpret documents.Ability to communicate effectively with patients and/or co-workers.Knowledge of all codes and demonstrate understanding.Will be responsible for following organizational safety policies and procedures, and Health Department regulations regarding contact with any of the above.Licenses, Certifications:

Licensure as required by New York State guidelines.Physical Requirements
