for Methodist Hospital in Merrillville, Indiana.The University of Chicago Medicine has partnered with Methodist Hospital to staff its cardiovascular/ thoracic surgery.Cardiothoracic Surgeon
Physician Roles and ResponsibilitiesProvides and manages direct patient care, including physical examinations, evaluations, assessments, diagnoses and treatment, and procedures for a specified patient populationPrescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens as appropriate to assessed medical conditionsRefers patients to other specialists and to relevant patient care components as appropriateDirects and coordinates the patient care activities of nursing, other health care professionals, and support staff, as requiredFollows established UCM Care Network departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standardsAs appropriate to the position, participates in specified health promotion, education and/or prevention programsAbility to work both independently and in a team environmentRequired Skills and QualificationsUnrestricted Medical License in Illinois and IndianaCompleted a US Residency ProgramBoard certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery or its equivalentCompleted an accredited fellowship or equivalent training in cardiovascular/ thoracic (CVT) surgery.3-5 years of experience is preferredOpportunity HighlightsCompetitive compensation package, including a 2-year base guaranteeExceptional benefits Medical, dental, retirement, time off, and CME allowanceExceptional staffing supportAbout UChicago Medicine Medical GroupUChicago Medicine Medical Group is aligned with The University of Chicago Medicine.
