Breast Surgical Oncologist University of Maryland Shore Regional Health Clark Comprehensive Breast Center & Department of Surgery University of Maryland School of Medicine The University of Maryland Shore Regional Health System and the Department of Surgery of the University of Maryland School of Medicine are seeking a breast surgical oncologist to lead their multidisciplinary breast program in Easton, Maryland. This individual will serve as Medical Director of the Clark Comprehensive Breast Center. The Clark Comprehensive Breast Center is accredited by the American College of Surgeons’ National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC) and the center’s service offerings include medical oncology, cancer surgery, radiation oncology, infusion services, genetic counseling, palliative care, and integrative health services. The Clark Comprehensive Breast Center is in program development with the University of Maryland Cancer Network (UMCN). The UMCN spans the University of Maryland Medical System with its 8 breast surgeons who care for nearly 1500 new breast cancer patients annually. This position is designed for a fellowship-trained breast surgeon whose goal is to provide highest quality, evidence-based care and to develop clinical, quality improvement, and clinical research programs in breast surgical oncology in a sophisticated community setting. The Medical Director will assure quality care, efficient resource management, service excellence, and maintenance of NAPBC status of the Clarke Comprehensive Breast Center. Collaboration with imaging, oncology, and integrative providers and supportive staff (nurse navigators, registry, etc.) and development and maintenance of strong referral relationships with community providers expected. A premium is placed on the Medical Director’s ability to facilitate teamwork with academic and community stakeholders. The successful applicant will hold an appointment or faculty position in the University of Maryland Department of Surgery in the Section of Surgical Oncology within the Division of General and Oncologic Surgery. This individual will participate in the research and quality improvement activities of the Department of Surgery and of the University of Maryland Cancer Network (UMCN). The Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center is a NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center ranked among the top cancer programs in the United States. The Greenebaum Comprehensive Cancer Center has a robust basic and clinical research effort in breast cancer and was responsible for the development of aromatase inhibitors, now in worldwide use. The University of Maryland Cancer Network is the state-wide cancer network of the University of Maryland Medical System that cares for more than one in four of the 24,000 Marylanders diagnosed with cancer each year.
