Position Summary

The Division of Cardiology, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill seeks an Open Rank, Fixed-Term, Tenure or Tenure Track or Variable Track Faculty appointment for an intensivist to work in the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit. The successful candidate will have training and experience in assessment and management of critically ill cardiac patients including management of ventilators and mechanical support devices. Responsibilities will be primarily based in the CICU but may also include outpatient cardiology clinic, attending on inpatient heart failure service, and cardiovascular imaging depending on interests and training. Teaching internal medicine residents and cardiology fellows is an integral part of the job. Good clinical, teaching, and interpersonal skills are essential whereas board certification in critical care medicine, an active research program, experience in quality improvement programs and experience in cardiac imaging are pluses.

Position rank and track (fixed term vs. tenure track vs. variable track) is dependent upon applicant qualifications and experience.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

MD or DO, Board certification in Internal Medicine, Board certification in either Cardiology or Intensive Care Medicine with both certifications preferred.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Preferred qualifications and experience include: training and experience in assessment and management of critically ill cardiac patients including management of ventilators and mechanical support devices: competency in cardiovascular imaging or board certification in advanced heart failure and transplantation.
