A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A PROJECT SUPERINTENDENT:
Deep commitment to a robust safety program for all employees and subcontractors; you are responsible for the safety of every worker, every day
Conducts daily site safety inspections immediately correcting all violations. Experience in writing JHA work plans required. works closely with the company’s safety consultant on all safety-related matters
Participates in project pursuits, proposals, and presentations, a major contributor in securing potential projects during the competition phase
Leads, supervises and develops project team, including providing input on or completing performance evaluations
Supports the billing process as it relates to work-in-place and oversees the monthly estimate of work completed, payrolls, material invoices, and subcontractor payment applications
Works with project manager to finalize project buy-out to maintain or improve budget
Prepares a complete detailed master schedule in Microsoft Project with accurate critical path, logic, and baseline; updates project master schedule monthly and when schedule impacting tasks occur
Prepares detailed project Short Interval Schedule (SIS) weekly projecting 5 weeks out; SIS to be confirmed and accepted with all subcontractors prior to finalization and distribution to the project team
Personally coordinates and verifies that all site structures, buildings, and building components are accurately placed and properly installed in accordance with the contract documents, building code and the highest quality industry standards possible
Anticipates all design conflicts well in advance of actual construction, clearly documents and communicates these problems and assists the design team in correcting problems while maintaining or improving the project schedule and budget
Ensures that all water intrusion details, systems and products are properly implemented and installed to ensure leak-proof conditions for all buildings and structures whether or not the plans and specifications properly address these issues
Conducts weekly subcontractor safety and schedule coordination meeting
Completes review and analysis of all subcontractor scopes and contracts
Works with Project Managers and Project Engineers to procure all products and equipment for every project on time to meet the project schedule
Assists with pre-construction efforts by conducting thorough and accurate project constructability reviews, site investigation, utility locating, value engineering and cost saving alternatives
YOU HAVE
[CONSTRUCTION EXPERIENCE]
AND :
Minimum 10-15 years K-12 public school construction experience, large public school experience
Computer literacy including Microsoft Office
Ability to accurately document, price and compile change orders
Ability to interpret, document and communicate complicated structural plans, details, and specifications and discover constructability problems well in advance of actual construction
Ability to perform and document detailed take-offs
Ability to produce detailed project master schedules and very detailed SIS schedules
Ability to write clear and concise RFI’s, notices to subcontractors, daily reports, letters, etc
Ability to work with all types of personalities, negotiate, communicate, document and follow up to achieve a clear mutually agreeable understanding between all parties
Ability to work in a collaborative environment with clients, subcontractors, inspectors, engineers and design teams
Ability to build new and maintain existing subcontractor and supplier relationships to obtain competitive advantages
Advanced knowledge and understanding of DSA and code requirements
Understand contracts, drawings, and specifications
Understand the factors that impact construction costs and subcontractor risk
Strong ability to visualize entire projects in three dimensions
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Knowledge of local subcontractor community and all building construction trades
Highly self-motivated; you initiate innovative solutions and creatively resolve issues
Experience in long lead procurement and coordinating this with a project’s master schedule
Impatience for results; you temper this impatience out of concern for accuracy and quality

Experience scheduling with Microsoft Project
Experience with Procore
Integrated project delivery methods and BIM experience
Large commercial and hospital experience
Whole campus experience
Preconstruction, estimating and bidding experience
IPD, Lean Construction and policy training, and implementation experience
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university in construction, construction management or architecture; or five to seven years related experience and/or training in construction, construction management or architecture; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
