POSITION PURPOSE

The Rehabilitation Services Physical Therapist provides evaluation and treatment of patients in a range of specialty programs.

Shift Available: Days

Status Available: Contingent

Requires two weekend shifts per month.

Required Qualifications:

Education

Bachelor's Degree in Physical Therapy

Licensure

Licensed as a Physical Therapist in the State of Michigan.

Experience

Previous experience preferred. Experience working with SCI and TBI population is preferred.

What you will do:

Demonstrates self-directed learning. ​

Provides quality patient care by considering the age specific, development and cultural needs through competent clinical practice. Demonstrates unit/area competencies.

Demonstrates competency with individualized assessment of patients using a wide variety of assessment measures and procedures.

Stays up to date on all participating insurance guidelines for rehabilitation services.

Provides thorough documentation on each patient interaction. Documentation must be timely and include all pertinent information required by state law, accrediting agencies and 3rd party payers.

Formulates individualized, age specific, therapy goals based upon assessment results and patient needs.

Consults with other team members and selects the most appropriate plan of care consistent with the needs and capabilities of the patient.

Implements patient care in a manner consistent with the therapy goals and the changing needs of the patient, using a variety of therapeutic approaches.

Completes daily charges for each patient while adhering to ethical practices per insurance guidelines for each payer.

Orients patients and families to the therapeutic purposes and procedures of physical therapy, and educates them about home programs, impairments and progress.

Provide daily oversight of the physical therapy provided by staff working under the physical therapist (could be physical therapist assistant, athletic trainer or physical therapy aide) and co-sign documentation when required.

Provides re-evaluations/re-assessments of patients on a regular basis to ensure progression towards goals.

Supervises Physical Therapy student affiliates as assigned by the Site Leader or Student Program Coordinator.

Provides for own professional growth and education and contributes to staff development activities.

Works with Site Leader and secretarial staff to ensure schedules are managed well to achieve targeted productivity and clinic budget.

Acute Care physical therapists that see patients on the IP Rehab Unit will be required to participate in interdisciplinary team meetings 1-2 times per week.

Participates in regularly scheduled staff meetings and in-services.
