Salary Range

: Min: $29.38 Mid: $35.16 Max: $46.60 plus a 15% Per Diem differential.DEFINITION OF POSITION:Screens patients for nutritional problems as identified by nurses admit nutritional screen, patient referral by a member of the health care team, or family request. Implements the nutrition care process for patients with nutrition diagnosis. Fosters continuity of care across the continuum of care. Provides nutrition education to patient and family members on appropriate food selections and eating behaviors to accomplish patient goals. Participates in performance improvement activities. Supervises diet clerks and educates staff regarding therapeutic diets.. Acts as liaison between the patient and the kitchen. Participates in the daily patient rounds (care conference). Provides individual and group outpatient nutrition education and MNT. Performs the duties of instructor for the nutrition, physicial activity and mental health aspects of the group diabetes education program. Working Conditions:Inside environment, protected from the weather but not necessarily temperature changes. Outside environment when walking from one building to another. Subject to temporary exposure to refrigerator and freezer temperatures . Subject to exposure to infection, contagious disease, hazardous materials and equipment. Variable noise levels. Subject to exposure to extreme temperatures of equipment, food and water, and exposure to hazardous materials and equipment while performing job duties. Occasionally subject to combative patients and visitors.

Physical demands/traits:Must be able to 1) express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word; 2) perceive characteristics of objects through the eyes; 3) pick, pinch or otherwise work with fingers; 4) perceive such attributes of objects or materials as size, shape, temperature, or texture; 5) lift carry, push and pull objects of up to 25 pounds.

Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS:EducationRequired: Bachelor's degree in food and nutrition/dietetics, and completion of a dietetic internship accredited by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.Preferred: Master's degree in nutrition/dietetics or related field.ExperienceRequired: Completion of an accredited dietetic internship.Preferred: At least 1 year of experience as a registered dietitian.Licenses/CertificationsRequired: Registered Dietitian; Licensed Dietitian in Oregon (must be obtained within 60 days of hire); current CPR certification.Preferred: Certified Diabetes Care & Education Specialist, or desire/ability to obtain within 2 years of hire.
