New York - Orthopedic Surgery

• University Health Network / Hospital in northern New York seeks a BE/BC orthopedic surgeon to join its hospital-based practice. The Orthopedic team consists of 4 orthopedic surgeons and 5 Physician Assistants.• This position roughly entails 50% clinical specialty, 25% general orthopedics and 25% trauma. The preference for the clinical specialty is hip/knee, hand and/or upper extremity. The incoming physician would provide coverage at the hospital as well as at its affiliate Medical Center located one hour away.• Call would be roughly 1:5 and is shared among the group members according to their FTE. Call is only covered at the main facility.• The surgeon taking this position would have set block time per week with opportunities to expand OR time with patient growth. The hospital is a certified Level III trauma center that works closely with Medical Center, a Level I trauma center 1 hour away, to provide orthopedic trauma support for northern NY. Practice in a collaborative environment in new state-of-the-art space with access to the latest technology.• The incoming physician will be employed by the University Health Network Medical Group. The Hospital• The Hospital is part of a six-hospital network serving northern NY and VT. They are a 300-bed community hospital located in the northeastern region of New York State serving a catchment area of approximately 170,000. The facility includes a 14-bed state-of-the-art critical care unit and 9 state-of-the-arts OR's.

The Community• This is a picturesque community of 38,000 located on Lake Champlain (6th largest lake in the country) and at the foothills of the Adirondack Mountains.
