Job DetailsJob Location415 Columbia Rd - Dorchester, MADescriptionPosition Title:Pharmacy Technician Level 2 (Pharmacy Board Certified)Department:Pharmacy Supervisor:Pharmacy Supervisor and Pharmacy DirectorHours per week:Full-TimePrimary Function:The Pharmacy Technician assists the Pharmacist with the process of filling prescriptions for UCHC patients.Duties & Responsibilities:Provide prompt and accurate customer service.Establish and continually verify accuracy of patient's profiles with correct demographics, allergy, contact information, and insurance.Request authorization for prescription refills via fax, or e-prescriptions.Enter prescription data into pharmacy computer system and make sure of its billing accuracy. Count medications and affix label to prescription container.Help maintain cleanliness and order in the pharmacy.Refer all patient related concerns or complaints to the pharmacist on duty.Communicate with insurance companies under the supervision of the pharmacist. Communicate with Health Center providers via Electronic Medical Records System in order to clarify prescriptions. Check MassPat PMP for Controlled Substance prescriptions eligibilities as needed. Check Electronic Medical Records System for patient insurance information and 340B eligibilities. A certified pharmacy technician, after identifying him or herself as such, may request refill authorizations from the prescriber or prescriber's agent and, with the approval of the pharmacist on duty, receive new or omitted prescription information from the prescriber or agent. This includes communicating orally or in writing to the prescriber or prescriber's agent any information recorded on a patient profile that does not require professional judgment or interpretation. A certified pharmacy technician may, with the approval of the pharmacist on duty, perform prescription transfers between pharmacies for prescriptions issued for controlled substances in Schedule VI only and in accordance with the requirements of 247 CMR 9.00: Code of Professional Conduct; Professional Standards for Registered Pharmacists, Pharmacies and Pharmacy Departments.Comply with all Federal, State and UCHC regulations, policies, and procedures.Offer every patient the opportunity to ask questions to the pharmacist regarding his/her medications.Provide translation for patients as needed, for consultations with the pharmacist. Perform other duties as required by the position or as assigned by supervisor. Must have successfully completed a Board approved pharmacy technician training program and be registered with the Mass Board of Pharmacy.Willingness and ability to strictly adhere to HIPAA rules and regulations at all times.Strong Customer Service skills and ability to function in a fast paced work environment.Ability to pay close attention to detail to ensure the accuracy of transactions.Must be flexible, kind, and have the ability to remain calm under stressful circumstances.Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and Electronic Medical Record Systems. Experience & Qualifications:One (1) year experience as a pharmacy technician is required. Bi-lingual skills in English and Spanish/Portuguese/Haitian Creole are a plus.Independent Action:NoneSupervisory Responsibility:NoneDefine Access Level to PHI:Level 3: Authorized to access only certain limited categories of PHI and certain limited sections of the UCHC patient's medical record that are necessary to perform job duties, whether treatment, payment or operations duties. Staff in this category level should confine the use of PHI to the minimum necessary required and should not access or read parts of the medical record not needed to perform assigned duties.
