As a Senior SBA Underwriter, you will play a critical role in assessing creditworthiness and making informed lending decisions for small to medium-sized businesses. This position requires a deep understanding of SBA lending or commercial lending, as well as comprehensive knowledge of credit evaluations for various industries. The ideal candidate should possess exceptional analytical abilities, strong attention to detail, and a proven track record of making sound lending decisions. This position can be remote from the southeastern US.JOB RESPONSIBILITIESEvaluate creditworthiness of small to medium-sized businesses by thoroughly analyzing financial statements, tax returns, cash flow projections, and other relevant documentation.Conduct comprehensive risk assessments to determine loan eligibility and identify potential risks and mitigating factors.Review loan applications, credit reports, and supporting documentation to ensure compliance with established policies, guidelines, and regulations.Collaborate closely with loan officers, relationship managers, and other stakeholders to gather necessary information and assess borrower creditworthiness.Prepare detailed credit memorandums summarizing findings, outlining loan terms, and recommending appropriate actions.Provide guidance and mentorship to junior underwriters, assisting them in their credit analysis and decision-making process.Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in commercial lending and credit evaluation.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for process improvement and enhance efficiency in underwriting operations.Foster and maintain strong relationships with internal teams, external clients, and lending partners.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or a related field.Minimum of 7 years of experience in SBA lending or commercial lending, with a focus on credit analysis and underwriting.Solid understanding of financial statements, credit ratios, and risk assessment models.Proven track record of successfully underwriting loans for small to medium-sized businesses across diverse industries.Strong knowledge of SBA guidelines, commercial lending regulations, and industry best practices.Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex financial information and make informed lending decisions.Proficiency in using underwriting software and credit analysis tools.Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to effectively manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate credit decisions and provide recommendations to stakeholders.
